New York Yankees double up the Cleveland Guardians to take commanding lead in ALCS

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians in Game 2 of the ALCS.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-3.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he grinded it out.  The bullpen pitched great and the offense was led by Gleyber Torres who had three hits.  Aaron Judge also had three RBI including a two-run homerun. 

Cole pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with four walks and four strikeouts.  Clay Holmes picked up his second win of the postseason pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, Tim Hill pitched 1 2/3 innings with a strikeout and Tommy Khanle pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Luke Weaver pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run. 

Tanner Bibee started for the Guardians and he pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out two and took his first loss of the postseason.  Cade Smith pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts, Tim Herrin pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Eli Morgan pitched a perfect inning.  Erik Sabrowski pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run with a walk, Pedro Avila pitched to one batter and got him out and Hunter Gaddis pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs.  Ben Lively pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Torres had three hits, Juan Soto had a hit and drew a walk and Judge had a hit and three RBI.  Jazz Chisholm had a hit, Anthony Volpe had two hits and drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had two hits.  Alex Verdugo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Torres, Verdugo, Chisholm Jr. and Rizzo each hit a double.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Chisholm Jr. was caught stealing. 

Steven Kwan had a hit and drew a walk, Kyle Manzardo had a hit and Jose Ramirez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Josh Naylor had two hits and an RBI, Lane Thomas had a hit and drew two walks.  Will Brennan had an RBI, Andres Gimenez drew two walks and Brayan Rocchio had two hits.  Ramirez hit a homerun and the Guardians were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Ramirez had a stolen base and Rocchio and Brennan each committed an error.  Sabrowski had a pickoff. 

In the bottom of the first Judge reached on an error and a run scored giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Verdugo hit an RBI double and the lead was extended to 2-0.  Judge hit a sac fly and it was 3-0 Yankees.  In the top of the fifth Naylor hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 3-1.  Brennan grounded out making it 3-2.  In the bottom of the sixth Rizzo hit an RBI double pushing the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the seventh Judge hit a two-run homerun extending the lead to 6-2.  In the top of the ninth Ramirez hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 6-3 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees take a commanding 2-0 series lead and will head to Cleveland for Game 3 on Thursday afternoon.

New York Yankees defeat the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1 of the ALCS

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1 of the ALCS on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Carlos Rodon got the start for the Yankees, and he pitched well.  The bullpen did their job, and the offense was led by Juan Soto who had two hits. 

Rodon pitched six innings giving up one run on three hits.  He walked none and struck out nine and earned his first win of the postseason.  Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Tim Hill pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run and Luke Weaver pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out four.  Weaver earned his fourth save of the postseason. 

Alex Cobb started for the Guardians, and he pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Cobb took his second loss of the postseason.  Joey Cantillo pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a run and three walks with a strikeout, Pedro Avila pitched 2 2/3 innings with a strikeout and Erik Sabrowski pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts.  Andrew Walters pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk, Soto had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Judge had an RBI and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Anthony Volpe drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and drew a walk.  Alex Verdugo had a hit and drew a walk, Soto and Stanton each hit a homerun, and the Yankees were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Hill committed an error, and Wells had a passed ball. 

Steven Kwan had a hit and an RBI, David Fry had a hit and Lane Thomas drew a walk.  Jhonkensy Noel had a hit, Andres Gimenez had a hit and Brayan Rocchio had two hits and an RBI.  Rocchio hit a homerun and the Guardians were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the bottom of the third Soto hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Two wild pitches pushed the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Judge hit a sac fly and it was 4-0 Yankees.  In the top of the sixth Rocchio hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Stanton hit a solo homerun extending the Yankees lead to 5-1 and in the top of the eighth Kwan hit an RBI single making it a 5-2 game.  5-2 would be the final score and the Yankees have a 1-0 series lead with Game 2 on Tuesday night in the Bronx.

New York Yankees lose to the Kansas City Royals to even series at one

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Kansas City Royals on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-2.  Carlos Rodon started and pitched great for the first three innings and then got into trouble in the fourth and didn’t even pitch out of it.  The bullpen was great and the offense struggled again. 

Rodon pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up four runs on seven hits and he struck out seven.  Rodon took the loss.  Ian Hamilton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Jake Cousins pitched 1/3 of an inning with a walk and Tim Hill pitched 2/3 of an inning.  Clay Holmes pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out two and Tim Mayza pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Luke Weaver faced one batter and retired him. 

Cole Ragans started for the Royals and he pitched four innings giving up three hits and a run with four walks and five strikeouts.  Angel Zerpa pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and earned his second win of the postseason.  John Schreiber pitched a perfect inning, Kris Bubic pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out two and Lucas Erceg pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run.  He picked up his third save of the postseason. 

Gleyber Torres drew two walks, Juan Soto drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk.  Austin Wells had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBIK, Jazz Chisholm had a hit and an RBI and Anthony Volpe had a hit and drew a walk.  Alex Verdugo had a hit and Jon Berti had a hit.  Chisholm Jr. hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Volpe had a stolen base and Chisholm Jr. committed an error.  Soto had an outfield assist. 

Maikel Garcia had four hits and an RBI, Salvador Perez had a hit and an RBI and Yuli Gurriel had a hit.  Michael Massey had a hit and drew two walks, Tommy Pham had a hit and an RBI and Garrett Hampson had two hits and an RBI.  Kyle Isbel had a hit, Perez hit a homerun and the Royals were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Pham had a stolen base and Garcia had a stolen base.  Isbel was caught stealing. 

In the bottom of the third Stanton hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the fourth Perez hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  Pham hit an RBI single, Hampson hit an RBI single and Garcia hit an RBI single giving the Royals a 4-1 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth Chisholm Jr. hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 but that would be the final score.  The series is tied 1-1 going to Kansas City for Game 3 on Wednesday night.

Yankees top the Royals in ALDS Game 1 back and forth

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals in Game 1 of the ALDS on Saturday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-5.  Gerrit Cole started, and he didn’t pitch well, the bullpen did a good job.  Juan Soto led the offense with three hits and Alex Verdugo had the game winning hit. 

Cole pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out four.  Tim Hill pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run, Clay Holmes picked up the win pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up a hit and Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk.  Luke Weaver picked up the save pitching 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. 

Michael Wacha started for the Royals, and he pitched four innings giving up four hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Angel Zerpa pitched giving up a hit and a run with two walks and didn’t record an out, John Schreiber pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Sam Long pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, a run, a walk and a strikeout.  Michael Lorenzen pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with three strikeouts and he took the loss.  Lucas Erceg pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out three.

Michael Massey had two hits, Salvador Perez had a hit and Yuli Gurriel had a hit and drew two walks and MJ Melendez had two hits and two RBI.  Tommy Pham had a hit and an RBI, Garrett Hampson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Maikel Garcia had a hit.  Melendez hit a homerun, and the Royals were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the top of the second Pham hit a sac fly giving the Royals a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the third Torres hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the top of the fourth Melendez hit a two-run homerun giving the Royals back a one run lead at 3-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Wells drew an RBI walk and Volpe drew an RBI walk giving the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  In the top of the sixth Hampson hit a two-run single giving the Royals back the lead at 5-4.  In the bottom of the sixth Wells hit an RBI single tying the game at five and in the bottom of the seventh Verdugo hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 6-5 lead which would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two Monday night in the Bronx.

New York Yankees have late dramatic comeback to down the Boston Red Sox

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Clarke Schmidt started for the Yankees, and he pitched well.  The offense was led by Aaron Judge who had two hits including a grand slam. 

Schmidt pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with one walk and five strikeouts.  Mark Leiter Jr. won his fourth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts and Luke Weaver picked up his second save of the season pitching two innings and giving up one hit with five strikeouts. 

Richard Fitts started for the Red Sox pitching five innings and giving up two hits and no runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Justin Slaten pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two, Zack Kelly pitched giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and Cam Booser pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his second game of the season.  Greg Weissert pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Luis Guerrero pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Jarren Duran had three hits, Rafael Devers had a hit and drew a walk and Masataka Yoshida had two hits and two RBI.  Triston Casas had a hit, Trevor Story had two hits, and two RBI and Duran hit a double.  Yoshida and Story each hit a homerun, and the Red Sox were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Duran was caught stealing. 

In the top of the sixth Yoshida hit a two-run homerun giving the Red Sox a 2-0 lead.  In the top of the seventh Story hit a two-run homerun pushing the Red Sox lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Torres hit an RBI single and Judge hit a grand-slam giving the Yankees a 5-4 lead and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday night.

New York Yankees win a ten inning thriller on a walk-off by Juan Soto

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox in ten innings on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Nestor Cortes Jr. started for the Yankee and he pitched well, the bullpen was excellent.  The Yankees had seven hits but not one player had more then a hit.  Gleyber Torres hit a homerun. 

Cortes pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with three walks and nine strikeouts.  Ian Hamilton pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up no hits or runs and he struck out three, Tim Hill pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up no hits, run or walks but he struck out a batter and Tommy Khanle pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Clay Holmes picked up his third win of the season pitching to two batters and retiring them both. 

Cooper Criswell started for the Red Sox and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and four strikeouts, Cam Booser pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked two and Zack Kelly pitched to one batter and retired him.  Justin Slaten pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Chris Martin pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Josh Winckowski pitched giving up a hit and an unearned run because it was the winning run by the ghost runner in the tenth inning.  He took his second loss of the season. 

Torres had a hit and an RBI, Juan Soto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Austin Wells had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew a walk and Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a hit and drew a walk.  Jasson Dominguez had a hit and drew a walk, Anthony Rizzo drew a walk and Torres hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Chisholm Jr. was caught stealing and picked off. 

Tyler O’Neill had a hit and drew a walk, Connor Wong had a hit and drew two walks and Danny Jansen had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Wilyer Abreu had a hit, Wong and O’Neill each hit a double and Jansen hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 0-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Abreu had a stolen base and Jansen had a pickoff. 

In the bottom of the first Torres hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the fifth Jansen hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the tenth Soto hit an RBI walk-off single giving the Yankees a 2-1 victory.  This was game one of four and the two teams will play game two on Friday night.

New York Yankees completely shutdown by the Kansas City Royals

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees, and he pitched well.  The bullpen wasn’t great, and the offense couldn’t touch Seth Lugo.  Gleyber Torres had two of the three hits. 

Stroman pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Stroman took his eighth loss of the season.  Mark Leiter Jr. pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Tim Mayza pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts. 

Lugo started for the Royals, and he pitched seven shutout innings giving up three hits and no runs or walks with ten strikeouts.  Lugo picked up his 16th win of the season.  Kris Bubic pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and John Schreiber pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Torres had two hits and Austin Wells had a hit.  The Yankees left three men on base and Wells committed an error.  Dominguez had an outfield assist. 

Tommy Pham had two hits and an RBI, Bobby Witt Jr. had a hit, and an RBI and Salvador Perez had two hits and two RBI.  Hunter Renfroe had a hit, Michael Massey had a hit and drew two walks and Maikel Garcia had an RBI.  Paul DeJong had a hit; Freddy Fermin had a hit and Kyle Isbel had two hits.  Pham hit a homerun, and the Royals were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Massey had a stolen base and Blanco had two stolen bases.  DeJong was caught stealing. 

In the top of the third Witt Jr. hit an RBI single giving the Royals a 1-0 lead.  Perez hit an RBI single and it was 2-0 Royals.  In the top of the fifth Perez hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 3-0.  In the top of the seventh Pham hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 4-0.  In the eighth Garcia hit a sac fly making it 5-0 and that was the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees offense explodes late to down the Kansas City Royals

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-4.  Carlos Rodon started for the Yankees, and he pitched well, better then even the results indicate.  The bullpen did their job, and the offense was led by Gleyber Torres who had three hits and Austin Wells who had four RBI. 

Rodon started for the Yankees, and he pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out nine.  Jake Cousins pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and earned his second win of the season.  Luke Weaver pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Ian Hamilton pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Brady Singer started for the Royals, and he pitched five innings giving up five hit and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Sam Long pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two, James McArthur pitched giving up three hits and four runs with a walk and not recording an out and took his seventh loss of the season.  Carlos Hernandez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and Chris Stratton pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Torres had three hits and an RBI, Juan Soto had a hit and three walks and Aaron Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Wells had two hits and four RBI which matched a career high.  Jazz Chisholm drew two walks, Jasson Dominguez had a hit, Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk and Alex Verdugo had two hits and two RBI.  Cabrera and Wells each hit a double and Verdugo and Wells each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-13 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Dominguez and Chisholm Jr. each had a stolen base, Chisolm Jr. committed an error and Wells committed an error.  Cousins had a pickoff.  Wells had a passed ball.

In the top of the first Perez hit an RBI single giving the Royals a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the third Perez hit a solo homerun pushing the Royals lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Cabrera walked and Dominguez stole third base and scored on an error cutting the lead to 2-1.  Verdugo hit a two-run homerun and the Yankees had a 3-2 lead.  In the top of the fifth Perez hit an RBI single tying the game at three.  In the top of the sixth Renfroe hit a solo homerun giving Kansas City back the lead at 4-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Judge hit an RBI single tying the game at four.  Wells hit a three-run homerun giving the Yankees a 7-4 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Torres hit an RBI single, Judge grounded into a double play and a run scored and Wells hit an RBI double making the lead 10-4.  That would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees suffer a heartbreaking, gut wrenching ninth inning loss to the Texas Rangers

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 7-4.  Carlos Rodon started for the Yankees and he pitched great, the closer Clay Holmes was terrible and blew the save.  Gleyber Torres, Jazz Chisholm and Anthony Volpe each had two hits. 

Rodon pitched six innings giving up one hit and one run with two walks and 11 strikeouts.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a strikeout, Jake Cousins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Tim Hill pitched to two batters getting them both out and one a strikeout.  Holmes lost his fifth game of the season and blew his 11th save of the season.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two this and four runs with two walks. 

Andrew Heaney started for the Rangers and he pitched five innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Jose Leclerc pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Andrew Chafin pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Grant Anderson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts.  Gerson Garabito pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Walter Pennington pitched 1/3 of an inning with a  walk and he earned his first win of the season.

Marcus Semien had a hit and drew a walk, Wyatt Langford had a hit and four RBI and Josh Jung had two hits and two RBI.  Adolis Garcia drew a walk, Nathaniel Lowe had an RBI and drew a walk and Ezequiel Duran had a hit.  Carson Kelly had a hit and drew a walk, Josh Smith drew a walk and Jung and Langford each hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Jung and Taveras each had a stolen base. 

In the bottom of the fourth Jung hit a solo homerun giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the seventh Trevino hit an RBI groundout tying the game at one.  Verdugo hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the top of the eighth Volpe hit a two-run single extending the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the eighth Jung hit an RBI single and Lowe hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 4-3.  In the bottom of the ninth after getting the first out on an easy groundout closer Holmes gave up a single, walk, walk and a grand-slam to lose the game 7-4.  The rubber game of the three-game series is on Wednesday night.   

New York Yankees use offensive attack to double up the Texas Rangers

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Monday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 8-4.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen had some trouble but held the lead.  The offense was led by Gleyber Torres who had three hits and Juan Soto and Jazz Chizholm also contributed two hits each. 

Cole pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and nine strikeouts and he picked up his sixth win of the season.  Luke Weaver pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout, Tim Hill pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Clay Holmes pitched 2/3 of an inning with a hit and a walk. 

Jack Leiter started for the Rangers and he took his second loss of the season.  He pitched five innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a couple of strikeouts.  Chase Anderson pitched four innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts. 

Torres had three hits and two RBI, Soto had two hits and drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI, Chisholm had two hits and an RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and two RBI.  Anthony Volpe had a hit, Alex Verdugo had a hit and Torres, Judge and Rizzo each hit a double.  Stanton hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Chisholm had two stolen bases.  

Corey Seager had two hits, Josh Smith had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Nathaniel Lowe had a hit.  Josh Jung had two hits, Wyatt Langford had two hits and two RBI and Josh Heim had an RBI.  Leody Taveras had a hit and drew a walk, Smith and Langford each hit a double and Langford hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the top of the third Torres hit a two-run double giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the third Smith hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the top of the sixth Judge hit an RBI double, Chisholm hit an RBI single and Rizzo hit a two-run double pushing the Yankees lead to 6-1.  A wild pitch made it 7-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Langford hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 7-3.  In the top of the eighth Stanton hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 8-3 and in the bottom of the ninth Heim hit an RBI groundout cutting the lead to 8-4 and that was the final score of the game.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees drop game two of a doubleheader to the Texas Rangers

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-4.  Gerrit Cole started and pitched well.  The bullpen wasn’t good, Luke Weaver got roughed up and Michael Tonkin pitched poorly also.  Alex Verdugo, Giancarlo Stanton, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Gleyber Torres each had two hits. 

Cole pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with two walks and ten strikeouts.  Weaver lost his third game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and five runs with a walk, Tonkin pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout.  Mark Leiter Jr. pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning. 

Cody Bradford started for the Rangers and he pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run with seven strikeouts.  He won his fourth game of the season, Jose Leclerc pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Gerson Garabito pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Verdugo had two hits, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Stanton had two hits and two RBI.  Chisholm Jr. had two hits and an RBI and Torres had two hits and an RBI.  Stanton hit a double, Stanton and Chisholm Jr. each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Chisholm Jr. had a stolen base and Volpe committed an error. 

Josh Smith had two hits and an RBI, Corey Seager had two hits and three RBI and Marcus Semien had a hit.  Josh Jung had a hit, Wyatt Langford had two hits and Nathaniel Lowe had two hits.  Adolis Garcia had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Leody Taveras had two hits and two RBI, Carson Kelly had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Taveras hit a double, Seager hit a homerun and the Rangers were 5-12 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Langford had a stolen base and Semien committed an error. 

In the bottom of the second Torres hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the fourth Garcia hit an RBI single tying the game at one.  In the top of the sixth Kelly had an RBI walk and Smith hit a sac fly giving the Rangers a 3-1 lead.  Seager hit a three-run homerun pushing the lead to 6-1.  In the top of the seventh Taveras hit a two-run double and Kelly hit an RBI single extending the lead to 9-1.  In the bottom of the eight Stanton hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 9-3 and Chisholm Jr. hit a solo homerun making it 9-4 but that was the final score.  The two teams will wrap up the series on Sunday afternoon.   

New York Yankees shutout the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of a doubleheader

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-0.  Carlos Rodon started for the Yankees and had some control issues but pitched well.  The bullpen was good and Aaron Judge led the offense with three hits. 

Rodon pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits and five walks and he struck out six.  Rodon won his 13th game of the season.  Ron Marinaccio pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three and Tim Hill pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Nathan Eovaldi started for the Rangers and he pitched three innings giving up six hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out four and lost his sixth game of the season.  Brock Burke pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Grant Anderson pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and three strikeouts. 

Alex Verdugo had a hit and drew a walk, Juan Soto had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Judge had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Austin Wells had two hits and four RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI and Jazz Chisholm Jr. had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Ben Rice had a hit, Trent Grisham drew a walk and Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit.  Wells, Judge and Cabrera each hit a double and Chisholm Jr. hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-15 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.

New York Yankees even series with the Toronto Blue Jays

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-3.  Carlos Rodon started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen pitched very well and Aaron Judge, Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe each had two hits. 

Rodon pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  He won his 12th game of the season.  Jake Cousins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Luke Weaver pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out three and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Mark Leiter Jr. pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and Clay Holmes faced one batter and struck him out earning his 23rd save of the season. 

Jose Berrios started for the Blue Jays and he pitched five innings giving up seven hits and six runs with five of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out six and took his ninth loss of the season.  Erik Swanson pitched a perfect inning, Ryan Burr pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout and Yerry Rodriguez pitched an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run with a strikeout. 

Juan Soto had a hit, Judge had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks and Wells had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk, Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a hit and drew a walk and Volpe had two hits and three RBI.  Trent Grisham had a hit and two RBI, Judge, Grisham and Volpe each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

George Springer drew a walk, Joey Loperfido had a hit and Vlad Guerrero Jr. had three hits and an RBI.  Alejandro Kirk had a hit and two RBI, Spencer Horwitz had a hit and drew a walk and Daulton Varsho had a hit.  Leo Jimenez had a hit, Addison Barger drew a walk and Guerrero Jr. hit a double.  Guerrero Jr. hit a homerun and the Blue Jays were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Horwitz and Jimenez each committed an error. 

In the top of the first Guerrero Jr. hit a solo  homerun giving the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Judge hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the second Grisham hit a two-run homerun extending the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Volpe hit a two-run homerun pushing the lead to 6-1.  In the top of the sixth Kirk hit a two-run single cutting the lead to 6-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Volpe hit an RBI single making it 7-3 and in the bottom of the eighth Wells hit an RBI single making it an 8-3 game and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees fall to the Toronto Blue Jays

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-5.  Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The bullpen was good and the offense was led by Anthony Volpe who had three hits. 

Stroman pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and seven runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Stroman lost his sixth game of the season.  Michael Tonkin pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with three strikeouts, Tim Hill pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Enyel De Los Santos pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Jake Cousins pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Kevin Gausman started for the Blue Jays and he pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out two.  Genesis Cabrera pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Bendon Little pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and won his first game of the season and Zach Pop pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Chad Green picked up his eighth save of the season pitching a perfect inning with three strikeouts.

The New York Yankees sweep the Philadelphia Phillies

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon.  The final score was 6-5 and the game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Nestor Cortes Jr. started for the Yankees, and he pitched well, the Yankees bullpen held the lead and the offense was led by DJ LeMahieu who had all six RBI. 

Cortes Jr. pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Cortes won his fifth game of the season.  Luke Weaver pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Mark Leiter Jr. pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts.  Clay Holmes picked up his 22nd save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Cristopher Sanchez started for the Phillies, and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and six runs.  He walked one and struck out seven and took his seventh loss of the season.  Jose Ruiz pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Yunior Marte pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Tanner Banks pitched a perfect inning and Carlos Estevez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Juan Soto had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had two hits and Jazz Chisholm had a hit.  Anthony Volpe had a hit; Alex Verdugo had a hit and LeMahieu had two hits and six RBI.  Carlos Narvaez had a hit, LeMahieu hit a double and a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Kyle Schwarber had a hit and drew two walks; Austin Hays had a hit and Alec Bohm had two hits and an RBI.  Nick Castellanos had two hits and three RBI, Weston Wilson had a hit and an RBI and Bryson Stott had two hits.  Brandon Marsh drew a walk, Hays and Bohm each hit a double and Bohm hit a triple.  Wilson hit a homerun and the Phillies were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the top of the second LeMahieu hit a grand slam giving the Yankees a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Bohm hit an RBI groundout cutting the lead to 4-1.  Castellanos hit an RBI single, and it was 4-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Wilson hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-3.  In the top of the sixth LeMahieu hit a two-run double giving the Yankees a 6-3 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Castellanos hit an RBI groundout and it was 6-4 Yankees.  In the bottom of the eighth Castellanos hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 6-5 but that was the final score.  The Yankees swept the three-game series and will be off on Thursday.  They will begin a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night and the start of a nine game homestand.

New York Yankees defeat the Philadelphia Phillies in back and forth extra inning clash

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 7-6 in 12 innings.  Will Warren made his first major league start and pitched well, he made one mistake which was a three-run homerun.  The Yankees bullpen pitched great and Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm led the offense with three hits each. 

Warren pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Jake Cousins pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout, Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Luke Weaver pitched a perfect inning.  Clay Holmes pitched an inning with three hits and a run and a walk, he blew his eighth save of the season.  Mark Leiter Jr. pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Michael Tonkin earned his fourth win of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Aaron Nola started for the Phillies and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Jose Alvarado faced one batter and got him out, Matt Strahm pitched an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Jose Ruiz pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Carlos Estevez pitched a perfect inning, Jeff Hoffman pitched two innings giving up two hits and an unearned run with a strikeout and Orion Kerkering pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a strikeout.  Kerkering took his second loss of the season.

In the top of the first Chisholm hit an RBI groundout giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Bohm hit an RBI double tying the score at one.  In the bottom of the second Hays hit a three-run homerun to give the Phillies a 4-1 lead.  In the sixth Chisholm Jr. hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2.  In the top of the seventh Chisholm Jr. hit a three-run homerun giving the Yankees a 5-4 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth a wild pitch tied the game at five.  In the top of the 11th Verdugo hit a sac fly giving the Yankees a 6-5 lead.  In the bottom of the 11th Hays hit an RBI single tying the game at six.  In the top of the 12th Torres hit a sac fly giving the Yankees a 7-6 lead and that would be the final score.  The Yankees will try to sweep the three-game series on Wednesday afternoon.

The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 14-4.  Luis Gil started for the Yankees, and he pitched well, the bullpen closed it out with 3 2/3 of good pitching.  The offense was led by Juan Soto who had three hits and Aaron Judge, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Ben Rice and Anthony Volpe each had two hits. 

Gil pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and eight strikeouts.  Gil won his 11th game of the season.  Michael Tonkin pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Yoendrys Gomez pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Zack Wheeler started for the Phillies, and he pitched five innings giving up seven hits and seven runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Wheeler took his fifth loss of the season.  Yunior Marte pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout, Gregory Soto pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Garrett Stubbs pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk.

New York Yankees rally but fall short in Tampa Bay

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 5-3.  Carlos Rodon started for the Yankees and he had a terrible first inning and then settled down but it was too late.  The bullpen pitched well and DJ LeMahieu led the offense with two hits. 

Rodon pitched four innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Rodon lost his seventh game of the season.  Jake Cousins pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out five, Michael Tonkin pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Tommy Khanle pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Ryan Pepiot started for the Rays and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and seven strikeouts.  He won his fifth game of the season.  Kevin Kelly pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run, Colin Poche pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a  walk and a strikeout and Jason Adam pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Pete Fairbanks pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and picked up his 15th save of the season. 

Ben Rice had a hit and two RBI, Juan Soto drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit and a walk.  Alex Verdugo had a hit and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI and Anthony Volpe drew a walk.  Trent Grisham had a hit, LeMahieu had two hits and Rice hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Verdugo committed an error. 

Yander Diaz had a hit and drew a walk, Randy Arozarena had a hit and drew a walk and Amed Rosario had two hits.  Isaac Paredes had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk, Jose Siri had a hit and Jonny DeLuca had a hit and an RBI.  Jose Caballero drew a walk, Arozarena and DeLuca hit a double and Paredes hit a homerun.  The Rays were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Arozarena had a stolen base and Caballero was caught stealing. 

In the top of the first Torres hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Arozarena hit an RBI double and Paredes hit a three-run homerun giving the Rays a 4-1 lead.  In the top of the seventh Rice hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 4-3.  In the bottom of the eight DeLuca hit an RBI double giving the Rays a cushion at 5-3 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees pound the Toronto Blue Jays in a offensive explosion

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 16-5.  Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees and he pitched well but didn’t pitch deep into the game.  The bullpen pitched well and the offense was led by Aaron Judge and Jahmi Jones who each had three hits. 

Stroman pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Michael Tonkin earned his third win of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Luke Weaver pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Tim Hill pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Yusei Kikuchi started for the Blue Jays and he pitched five innings giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Kikuchi took his eight loss of the season.  Nate Pearson pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk, Genesis Cabrera pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Trevor Richards pitched an inning giving up three hits and two unearned runs.  Tim Mayza pitched giving up five hits and five runs without recording an out and Bowden Francis pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs. 

Anthony Volpe had two hits, Juan Soto had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Judge had three hits and two RBI.  J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI, Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit and an RBI and Gleyber Torres had two hits and three RBI.  Alex Verdugo had two hits and two RBI, DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Trevino had a hit and an RBI.  Jones had three hits and an RBI, Davis, Verdugo, LeMahieu, Cabrera and Trevino each hit a double.  Soto and Torres each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 9-12 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Bo Bichette had a hit and drew a walk, Spencer Horwitz had a hit and Vlad Guerrero Jr. had two hits and two RBI.  Justin Turner had two hits and drew two walks, George Springer had a hit and two RBI and Danny Jansen had a hit.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa had two hits and an RBI, Turner hit a double and Kiner-Falefa, Guerrero Jr. each hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Kiner-Falefa committed an error and Barger had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the first Springer hit an RBI single giving the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the fourth Davis hit an RBI groundout to tie the score at one.  In the bottom of the fifth Guerrero Jr. hit into a force out and a run scored giving the Jays a 2-1 lead.  Springer was hit by a pitch and it was 3-1 Jays.  In the top of the sixth Soto hit a three-run homerun giving the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  Davis hit an RBI double, Torres hit a two-run homerun and it was 7-3 Yankees.  In the bottom of the sixth Kiner-Falefa hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 7-4.  In the bottom of the seventh Guerrero Jr. hit a solo homerun making it a 7-5 game.  In the top of the eighth Verdugo hit an RBI double, LeMahieu hit an RBI double and it was 9-5 Yankees.  In the top of the ninth Judge hit a two-run single pushing the lead to 11-5.  Cabrera hit an RBI double, Torres hit a sac fly and Verdugo hit an RBI single extending the lead to 14-5.  Trevino hit an RBI double and Jones hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 16-5 and that was the final score.  The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday.

New York Yankees bats are silenced as they drop series to the Atlanta Braves

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-1.  Nestor Cortes started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen pitched a couple of solid innings and the offense was led by Ben Rice and Trent Grisham who each had two hits. 

Cortes pitched seven innings giving up five hits and three runs with seven strikeouts.  Cortes lost his sixth game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three and Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Max Fried started for the Braves and he pitched six innings giving up six hits and a run with four strikeouts.  Fried picked up his seventh win of the season.  Pierce Johnson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out a batter, Joe Jimenez pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Raisel Iglesias pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and he earned his 20th save of the season. 

Anthony Volpe had a hit and an RBI, Juan Soto had a hit and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Rice had two hits, Grisham had two hits and Volpe hit a double.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Jarred Kelenic had a hit and two RBI, Ozzie Albies had a hit and an RBI and Marcell Ozuna had two hits.  Ramon Laureano had a hit, Orlando Arcia had a hit and it was a double and Kelenic hit a homerun.  The Braves were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the top of the third Kelenic hit a solo homerun giving the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the fifth Kelenic hit a sac fly pushing the lead to 2-0.  Albies hit an RBI single and it was 3-0 Braves.  In the bottom of the sixth Volpe hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 3-1 but that was the final score.  The Braves took two out of three in the series and the Yankees will be off on Monday.  They will begin a two-game series with the New York Mets on Tuesday night. 

New York Yankees bounce back to even series with the Atlanta Braves

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-3.  Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees, and he pitched well, the bullpen did a good job and Oswaldo Cabrera lead the team with two hits and two RBI. 

Stroman pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Stroman won his seventh game of the season.  Michael Tonkin pitched to one batter and struck him out, Luke Weaver pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Phil Bickford pitched a perfect inning. 

Charlie Morton started for the Braves, and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  Morton lost his fourth game of the season.  Aaron Bummer pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with three walks and Jesse Chavez pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts.

In the top of the first Ozuna hit a solo homerun giving the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Judge hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the third Judge grounded into a double play and a run scored making it 3-1 Yankees.  In the bottom of the fourth Torres hit an RBI double pushing the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Cabrera hit a two-run single making it 6-1.  Judge drew an RBI walk and the lead was 7-1.  In the top of the seventh d’Arnaud hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 7-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Grisham hit a solo homerun making it 8-3 and that would be the final score. 

New York Yankees are beat up by the Atlanta Braves

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-1.  Carlos Rodon started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The bullpen pitched well and the offense only managed three hits. 

Rodon pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up 11 hits and eight runs with seven of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out three and took his fourth loss of the season.  Yoendrys Gomez pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three walks with five strikeouts and Phil Bickford pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout. 

Chris Sale started for the Braves and he won his 10th game of the season pitching five innings and giving up a hit and a run with three walks and eight strikeouts.  Daysbel Hernandez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jesse Chavez pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Dylan Lee pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Grant Holmes pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Anthony Volpe had a hit and drew a walk, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Jahmai Jones had a hit and drew a walk.  DJ LeMahieu had an RBI and drew a walk, Jones hit a triple and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Volpe was caught stealing and Jones committed an error.

In the top of the first Albies hit a two-run homerun giving the Braves a 2-0 lead.  Riley hit a solo homerun increasing the lead to 3-0.  In the top of the second Kelenic hit an RBI single and the Braves lead pushed to 4-0.  In the bottom of the second LeMahieu hit an RBI groundout cutting the lead to 4-1.  In the top of the third Laureano hit an RBI double and the lead was 5-1 Braves.  In the top of the fourth Olson hit a two-run homerun pushing the lead to 7-1.  Murphy hit an RBI double and it was 8-1 Braves and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees drop rubber game to the Boston Red Sox

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 9-3.  Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees, and he pitched ok.  The bullpen didn’t do so well, and the offense managed six hits but no one had more than a hit. 

Stroman pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  Stroman took his third loss of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Caleb Ferguson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and Luke Weaver pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Ian Hamilton pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and Michael Tonkin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Kutter Crawford started for the Red Sox, and he pitched six innings giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Crawford won his third game of the season.  Brennan Bernardino pitched and gave up two hits without recording an out, Zack Kelly pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Greg Weissert pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts.

Jarren Duran had two hits and drew a walk, David Hamilton had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Rob Refsnyder had two hits and drew two walks.  Rafael Devers had a hit and two RBI, Connor Wong had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Enmanuel Valdez had a hit and drew a walk.  Dominic Smith had a hit, Ceddanne Rafaela had three hits and two RBI and Wong hit a triple.  The Red Sox were 6-15 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Duran had two stolen bases, Smith and Rafaela each had one and Hamilton had four stolen bases.  Smith committed an error. 

In the first Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Rafaela hit a two-run single giving the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the third Devers grounded into a double play and a run scored pushing the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Devers hit a sac fly and the lead was 4-1 Boston.  In the top of the sixth Trevino hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2.  A wild pitch made it 4-3 and in the bottom of the seventh Devers hit an RBI single, Wong hit a two-run triple and it was 7-3 Red Sox.  In the bottom of the eighth Hamilton hit an RBI single and Wong hit an RBI single making it 9-3 and that was the final score.  The Yankees lost two out of three and will have a day off on Monday.  They will begin a three-game series at home with the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.
