The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves by the score of 6-1 on Tuesday night. The game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia. Zack Wheeler started and was good, his command wasn’t great. Marlon Byrd led the offense with three hits and three players had two hits.
Wheeler pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs. He walked five and struck out seven and earned his first win of the season and career. Brandon Lyon pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk, David Aardsma pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and striking out one.
Colin Cowgill had two hits, Daniel Murphy had a hit and David Wright had two hits. Byrd had three hits, Josh Satin had a hit and drew two walks and Recker had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk. Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI; Omar Quintanilla had two hits and two RBI. Jordany Valdespin drew a walk, Wright and Byrd each hit a double and Recker hit a homerun. The Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. Murphy and Byrd each had a stolen base. Recker committed an error.
Paul Maholm pitched seven innings giving up nine hits and two runs with seven strikeouts. Maholm lost his sixth game of the season, Anthony Varvaro pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with two walks and Cory Gearrin pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks and he struck out two batters.
Recker hit a two run homerun in the seventh to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. Justin Upton hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead in half. Byrd scored a run in the eighth on a throwing error, Lagares hit an RBI single and Quintanilla hit a two run single to make it a 6-1 game.
The two teams will play their fifth and final game of the series on Wednesday night. The Mets record improved to 27-40 and the Braves record dropped to 42-30.

The New York Mets win 4-2 in Minnesota as Matt Harvey dominates and flirts with perfection
The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins by the score of 4-2 on Saturday afternoon. The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched great carrying a perfect game into the seventh inning. He is becoming must see T.V. as he is a phenom that is giving all Mets fans hope. Daniel Murphy had a couple of hits and Justin Turner had three to lead the Mets offense.
Harvey pitched eight innings giving up two hits and one run with two walks and six strikeouts. He picked up his third win of the season. Bobby Parnell pitched an inning to pick up his first save. He gave up two hits and a run with a couple of strikeouts.
Colin Cowgill had a hit and an RBI, Murphy had two hits and an RBI and David Wright had a hit and an RBI. Lucas Duda drew a walk, Marlon Byrd had a hit and an RBI and Ike Davis had a hit. Turner had three hits, Ruben Tejada had a hit and Turner and Tejada each hit a double. Byrd hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
Scott Diamond took the loss his first of the season. The New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins 7-3
The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins by the score of 7-3 on Saturday afternoon. The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Jon Niese started and pitched well and the bullpen pitched pretty well for the Mets. David Wright and Ike Davis led the Mets offense with five of their nine hits.
Niese pitched six innings giving up eight hits and two runs with one of them being earned. He walked two and struck out five. Scott Atchison pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run, Josh Edgin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Brandon Lyon picked up the win pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out two. Bobby Parnell pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Mike Baxter had a hit and drew two walks, Daniel Murphy had a hit and an RBI and Wright had three hits and an RBI. The New York Mets win on Opening Day as usual
The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres by the score of 11-2 on Monday afternoon. The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Jon Niese started for the Mets and pitched well, Colin Cowgill hit a grand slam and a bunch of guys had a couple of hits.
Niese pitched 6 2/3 innings picking up the win. He gave up four hits and two runs with a couple of walks and four strikeouts. Brandon Lyon pitched to one batter and retired him, Scott Atchison pitched a perfect inning and Scott Rice pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts.
Cowgill had two hits and four RBI, Daniel Murphy had two hits and an RBI and David Wright had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. Rafael Montero pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout, Familia pitched an inning giving up a walk and Darin Gorski pitched one inning giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts. Gorski took the loss, Josh Edgin pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Parnell pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one.

The New York Mets and Washington Nationals tie 4-4
The New York Mets and Washington Nationals played to a 4-4 tie on Thursday night in ten innings. The game was played at Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Florida. The Mets pitching was ok in the game and Jordany Valdespin, Colin Cowgill and Travis D’arnaud each had two hits.

Ian Desmond had a hit, Zach Walters had a hit and Danny Espinosa had a hit and drew a walk. Tyler Moore had two hits, Anthony Rendon had a hit and a couple of RBI. Span, Espinosa, Rendon and Marrero each hit a double. The Nationals were 3-18 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base. Span had two stolen bases and Desmond committed an error.
Baxter hit a sacrifice fly in the first to make it 1-0 Mets. Rendon hit an RBI double to tie the game at one in the second inning. In the third Werth had an RBI groundout to give the Nationals a 2-1 lead, the Mets tied the game in the fourth inning and then the Nationals took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Quintanilla hit an RBI double and Rendon grounded out scoring a run. Bixler hit an RBI single in the sixth and Matt Skole had an RBI walk. A wild pitch scored the fourth and final run of the game in the seventh for the Mets.
The Mets and Nationals are both 1-3 in the spring. The Mets will host the Detroit Tigers on Friday afternoon and Washington will play at Atlanta on Friday evening.
The St. Louis Cardinals defeat the New York Mets 12-4
The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon by the score of 12-4. The game took place at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Darin Gorski started for the Mets and took the loss pitching two innings and giving up three hits and four runs with three walks. Carlos Torres pitched two innings giving up five hits and four runs with three walks and a strikeout, Robert Carson pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Greg Burke pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs with three strikeouts. Bobby Parnell pitched an inning giving up a walk.
Ruben Tejada had a hit, David Wright had two hits and Ike Davis drew a walk. Zach Lutz drew a walk, Marlon Byrd had a hit and Lucas Duda had a hit. John Buck had a hit and two RBI, Anthony Recker had a hit and an RBI and Colin Cowgill had a hit and an RBI. Buck, Recker and Cowgill each hit a homerun. The New York Mets tied the Houston Astros and in split squad defeated the University of Michigan
The New York Mets and Houston Astros played to a 7-7 tie on Sunday afternoon. The Mets played a split squad and defeated the University of Michigan 5-2 on Sunday afternoon also. Jordany Valdespin had a hit and two RBI. Colin Cowgill continues to make a name for himself with two hits, an RBI and a walk. The Mets pitching was ok in the game.
Matt Harvey started and pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. Jeremy Hefner pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them earned. He walked two and struck out one, Aaron Laffey pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout, Scott Atchison pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Josh Edgin pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a walk. He was charged with a blown save.
Andrew Brown had a hit for the Mets. Jamie Hoffman had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, R.J. Harris had a hit and Zach Lutz had a hit.
