The New York Mets are swept by the Atlanta Braves



The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched pretty well and the bullpen was ok but Jeurys Familia blew the save.  TJ Rivera had two hits to lead the offense. 

Colon pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up an unearned run and he struck out one, Josh Smoker pitched giving up a hit and not recording an out and Familia pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and he lost his fourth game and blew his fifth save of the season. 

Ryan Weber pitched five innings giving up four  hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  John Gant pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Brandon Cunniff pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he walked two and Chaz Roe pitched to one batter and struck out one.  Ian Krol won his second game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning walking one and striking out one.  Jim Johnson saved his 17th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Jose Reyes had a hit and drew a walk, Travis d'Arnaud drew a walk and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and two RBI.  Yoenis Cespedes had a hit, Curtis Granderson drew a walk and Rivera had two hits.  Alejandro De Aza drew a walk, Eric Campbell drew a walk and Rene Rivera had a hit and an RBI.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Cespedes hit a double.  Cabrera and Rivera each hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Reyes, Cespedes and Granderson each had a stolen base.  Alejandro De Aza were caught stealing and Colon and Loney each committed an error. 

Ender Inciarte had an RBI, Adonis Garcia had a hit and Freddie Freeman had two hits.  Matt Kemp had an RBI, Nick Markakis had a hit and drew a walk and Anthony Recker had a hit and two RBI.  Jace Peterson had a hit, Dansby Swanson had a hit and Mallex Smith had a hit.  Emilio Bonifacio had a hit, Recker hit a homerun and the Braves were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Inciarte and Freeman each had a stolen base. 

In the first Cabrera hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Rivera hit a solo homerun to make it 3-0.  In the seventh Recker hit a two run homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the eighth Kemp hit a sac fly making it 3-3.  In the ninth Inciarte hit into an RBI ground out making it 4-3 Atlanta and that would be the final score.

New York Mets sweep the Minnesota Twins



The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Gabriel Ynoa started for the Mets and he pitched pretty well and the bullpen did a pretty good job.  TJ Rivera and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Ynoa pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Josh Edgin gave up a hit to the only batter that he faced, Erik Goeddel pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts.  He earned his second win of the season, Josh Smoker pitched an inning with two strikeouts, Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Jerry Blevins pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two. 

Kyle Gibson pitched five innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  He lost his 10th game of the season.  Buddy Boshers pitched a perfect inning and Taylor Rogers pitched two innings striking out two. 

Alejandro De Aza drew a walk, Rivera had two hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit.  Conforto had two hits and two RBI, Kelly Johnson had a hit and drew a walk and Travis d'Arnaud had a hit.  Cespedes hit a double, Rivera hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Brian Dozier had a hit, Logan Schafer had a hit and Jorge Polanco drew a walk.  Kennys Vargas had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Robbie Grossman had four hits and James Beresford had a hit.  JR Murphy had an RBI, Vargas hit a homerun and the Twins were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Polanco committed an error. 

Conforto hit a two run single in the first to make it 2-0 Mets.  In the second Murphy hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Rivera hit a solo homerun to make it 3-1 Mets.  In the eighth Vargas hit a solo homerun to make it 3-2. 

The Mets swept the three game series and will take on the Atlanta Braves beginning on Monday night.

The New York Mets win second straight over the Minnesota Twins



The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched pretty well, the bullpen was good.  TJ Rivera had three hits and Yoenis Cespedes and Curtis Granderson each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with four walks and two strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three, Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Addison Reed pitched an inning with a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts.   Josh Edgin won his first game of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Ervin Santana pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Ryan Pressly pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Taylor Rogers pitched to two batters and struck out two and J.T. Chargois pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Alex Wimmers pitched an inning walking one and striking out three, Brandon Kintzler blew his third save of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and Michael Tonkin pitched to two batters and retired them both.  Ryan O'Rourke lost his first game of the season giving up a hit and a run. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk and Cespedes had two hits and an RBI.  Granderson had two hits and two RBI, Rivera had three hits and James Loney drew a walk.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Alejandro De Aza drew a walk and Rivera hit a double.  Granderson hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Brian Dozier had a hit and drew a walk, Jorge Polanco had two hits and drew two walks and Max Kepler had a hit.  Eddie Rosario had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Byron Buxton had two hits and an RBI and Juan Centeno had a hit and drew two walks.  Polanco hit a double and Rosario and Buxton each hit a homerun.  The Twins were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Polanco had a stolen base. 

In the fourth Rosario hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Cespedes hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the 11th Buxton hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the 11th Granderson hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the 12th Granderson hit a walk-off homerun to give the Mets a 3-2 win. 

The Mets and Twins will play their third and final game on Sunday afternoon.  The Mets will be looking for the three game sweep.
