The New York Mets win second straight over the Minnesota Twins



The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched pretty well, the bullpen was good.  TJ Rivera had three hits and Yoenis Cespedes and Curtis Granderson each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with four walks and two strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three, Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Addison Reed pitched an inning with a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts.   Josh Edgin won his first game of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Ervin Santana pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Ryan Pressly pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Taylor Rogers pitched to two batters and struck out two and J.T. Chargois pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Alex Wimmers pitched an inning walking one and striking out three, Brandon Kintzler blew his third save of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and Michael Tonkin pitched to two batters and retired them both.  Ryan O'Rourke lost his first game of the season giving up a hit and a run. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk and Cespedes had two hits and an RBI.  Granderson had two hits and two RBI, Rivera had three hits and James Loney drew a walk.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Alejandro De Aza drew a walk and Rivera hit a double.  Granderson hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Brian Dozier had a hit and drew a walk, Jorge Polanco had two hits and drew two walks and Max Kepler had a hit.  Eddie Rosario had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Byron Buxton had two hits and an RBI and Juan Centeno had a hit and drew two walks.  Polanco hit a double and Rosario and Buxton each hit a homerun.  The Twins were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Polanco had a stolen base. 

In the fourth Rosario hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Cespedes hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the 11th Buxton hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the 11th Granderson hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the 12th Granderson hit a walk-off homerun to give the Mets a 3-2 win. 

The Mets and Twins will play their third and final game on Sunday afternoon.  The Mets will be looking for the three game sweep.
