The New York Mets defeated the
Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon. The
game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
3-2. Gabriel Ynoa started for the Mets
and he pitched pretty well and the bullpen did a pretty good job. TJ Rivera and Michael Conforto each had two
hits to lead the offense.
Ynoa pitched 4 2/3 innings giving
up four hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts. Josh Edgin gave up a hit to the only batter
that he faced, Erik Goeddel pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk
with three strikeouts. He earned his
second win of the season, Josh Smoker pitched an inning with two strikeouts,
Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Jerry
Blevins pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two.
Kyle Gibson pitched five innings
giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts. He lost his 10th game of the season. Buddy Boshers pitched a perfect inning and
Taylor Rogers pitched two innings striking out two.
Alejandro De Aza drew a walk,
Rivera had two hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit. Conforto had two hits and two RBI, Kelly
Johnson had a hit and drew a walk and Travis d'Arnaud had a hit. Cespedes hit a double, Rivera hit a homerun
and the Mets were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on
base.
Brian Dozier had a hit, Logan
Schafer had a hit and Jorge Polanco drew a walk. Kennys Vargas had a hit, an RBI and drew a
walk, Robbie Grossman had four hits and James Beresford had a hit. JR Murphy had an RBI, Vargas hit a homerun
and the Twins were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on
base. Polanco committed an error.
Conforto hit a two run single in
the first to make it 2-0 Mets. In the
second Murphy hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1. In the third Rivera hit a solo homerun to
make it 3-1 Mets. In the eighth Vargas
hit a solo homerun to make it 3-2.
The Mets swept the three game
series and will take on the Atlanta Braves beginning on Monday night.
