Yankees postgame Notes.

Here are some of the postgame notes from the Yankees game today. A.J. Burnett had a rough first inning, giving up 2 singles, 2 stolen bases a sac bunt and a walk. Pitching Coach Dave Eiland went out to the mound to talk to him and said "You have good stuff, we are still in the game. Continue to attack, don't pick, take charge." Burnett said he didn't think his stuff was that good today but that Eiland and Posada told him otherwise and he trusted them. It is only 2 games but Posada and Burnett have worked pretty well together so far which is a good thing. There was a weird play in the 6th inning when Evan Longoria hit a pop up which should of been the final out of the inning. It hit a catwalk though and was ruled a hit. Jorge Posada who is always outspoken had this to say "It's not a baseball stadium. You can't have balls going all over the place, it's sad." Posada said that Burnett threw 5 changeups today and he expects even more as he gets used to it. "It is a swing and miss pitch, it really is." Posada said. Burnett was asked if he wears his Marlins World Series ring and he said no, they said will you wear your Yankees one and he said "Absolutely." Brett Gardner and Curtis Granderson are tied for the league lead in stolen bases with 3 each. They can certainly run and you will see that a lot this year when they are on base. The Yankees have a workout tomorrow at the stadium and then the welcome home dinner in the evening. They will receive their rings on Tuesday and raise the championship banner. Bernie Williams will throw out the first pitch and their will be a fly over. It will be a special day at the stadium and I will be there to cover it all. I can't wait to get there and provide you guys with some good coverage of the Opening Day festivities.

More from last nights classic

That game was the longest a Yankees/Red Sox game has gone being scoreless. Junichi Tazawa was making his major league debut replacing Hall Of Famer John Smoltz on the roster. A-rod ended his longest single season homerun drought with his walkoff in the 15th at 72 at bats. You knew how much this game meant when you saw Josh Beckett and A.J. Burnett hanging out in the dugout when usually they would be in the locker room. CC Sabathia also hung around, he is today's starting pitcher. The Yankees clubhouse is so big and nice though maybe he just slept there last night. It was amazing how many bad swings there were, it was like no matter who came in to those last couple of innings, no one was going to hit them. The Yankees only used Hughes for 1/3 of an inning and Mo for 1 inning so they will be ready to go today. Bucholz is pitching for Boston and their bullpen is depleted a bit, this could be interesting for them. The stadium was finally alive and most people stayed right to the end, i give them credit but it was a friday night and how could you leave that game.

Yankees vs Indians

I don't have the lineups for todays game and may not in the next half hour before I head out to the stadium. If I don't have them I will try and post them through the mobile feed. I do have some pregame news though, Anthony Claggett has been called up to NY, not sure who is being sent down but we should know that soon enough. Chien-Ming Wang gets the start and better be a lot better then he was in his other two starts, if not I think there is a chance he gets sent down to work things out and maybe we could see Phil Hughes come up, that is just my guess, there is no talk of it. Gary Sheffield hit his 500th homerun last night for the Mets. There is a story out today that Jed Lowrie the Red Sox SS may miss the rest of the year with a wrist injury, stay tuned for more information on that. I will try and be back with the lineups before I leave but if not check back later for some live mobile updates from the Stadium.

Yankees lineup for tonights game

Here is the Yankees lineup for tonights game. 1. Posada(c) 2.Damon(lf) 3.Swisher(1b) 4. Matsui(dh) 5. Nady(rf) 6. Ransom(3b) 7. Cabrera(cf) 8. Berroa(2b) 9. Pena(ss) AJ Burnett gets the start against his former team followed by MO, Edwar Ramirez and Dan Giese. Don't forget the game is on YES tonight at 7:00pm. I don't know if anyone is going to the Cubs games to open the stadium April 3 and 4th but they went on presale today for the season ticket holders and will go on sale for everyone else I believe March 27th. I am pretty sure they will sell out by then, what I don't understand is why full season ticket holders get first dibs on the extra tickets, they already have them all including the Cubs games, it doesn't seem fair to me. If anyone has an opinion on this or some more information I would love to hear from you.
