New York Yankees lose a tough one in Baltimore


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 6-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched just ok in his first start back from injury.  Didi Gregorius had three hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder pitched to two batters and retired them both, Chad Green pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and David Robertson pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Dellin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his third game of the season. 

Andrew Cashner pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Miguel Castro pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked one, Mychal Givens pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Zach Britton won his first game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Aaron Judge had a hit, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Gregorius had three hits.  Miguel Andujar had a hit and drew a walk, Greg Bird had a hit and four RBI and Austin Romine drew a walk.  Neil Walker had a hit and an RBI, Gregorius hit a double and Bird hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-4 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Andujar committed an error. 

Tim Beckham had a hit and drew a walk, Adam Jones had two hits and Manny Machado had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Jonathan Schoop had two hits and an RBI, Chris Davis had a hit and Trey Mancini drew a walk.  Joey Rickard had a hit and two RBI, Schoop Rickard and Jones each hit a double.  Machado hit two homeruns and the Orioles were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the fourth Rickard hit a two-run double to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Bird hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Machado hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the seventh Bird hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  Walker hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Machado hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at five and then in the ninth Schoop hit an RBI walk-off single to give the Orioles the 6-5 victory. 

The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Wednesday night.  The Yankees will try and split the series and then head to Cleveland for four games.

New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in extra innings


The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in ten innings on Monday evening.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he was ok, the bullpen was good.  Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with three walks and eight strikeouts.  Seth Lugo pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and four walks with three strikeouts, Robert Gsellman pitched to two batters and retired them both, one was a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning.  Tim Peterson won his second game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Zach Eflin pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with four strikeouts.  Edubray Ramos pitched a perfect inning, Pat Neshek pitched an inning giving up a hit and Seranthony Dominguez pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout.  Victor Arano pitched giving up a hit and a run without recording an out and lost his first game of the season. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Jose Bautista had a hit and Cabrera had two hits and two RBI.  Devin Mesoraco had a hit, Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Cabrera and Rosario each hit a double and Cabrera and Flores each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Cesar Hernandez had two hits and drew a walk, Rhys Hoskins had a hit and an RBI and Carlos Santana drew three walks.  Nick Williams had three hits and an RBI, Scott Kingery had a hit and drew a walk and Andrew Knapp had a hit and drew a walk.  Maikel Franco had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Franco hit a homerun and the Phillies were 2-13 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Hernandez and Kingery each had a stolen base and Herrera committed an error. 

In the first Williams hit an RBI single to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Cabrera hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the second Hoskins hit an RBI single to give the Phillies a 2-1 lead.  In the third Bautista hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Cabrera hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.  In the fourth Franco hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the tenth Flores hit a solo homerun to win the game 4-3 for the Mets. 


New York Yankees win game 2 of doubleheader to earn split in Baltimore


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles in Game two of a doubleheader on Monday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 10-2.  Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and pitched very well.  Brett Gardner had four hits to lead the offense. 

Cessa won his first game of the season pitching six innings and giving up three hits and no runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Giovanny Gallegos pitched three innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks. 

Yefry Ramirez lost his third game of the season pitching four innings giving up nine hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out four.  Ryan Meisinger pitched three perfect innings with three strikeouts, Brad Brach pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and four runs with three being earned and he struck out one and Tanner Scott pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Paul Fry pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Gardner had four hits and three RBI, Aaron Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had two hits, Greg Bird had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had a hit.  Clint Frazier had a hit and drew a walk, Austin Romine had two hits and three RBI and Neil Walker had two hits and drew a walk.  Gregorius, Stanton, Frazier, Walker, Gardner, Andujar and Romine each hit a double.  Gardner and Romine each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Gregorius was caught stealing. 

Tim Beckham had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Jonathan Schoop had a hit and Manny Machado drew a walk.  Mark Trumbo had a hit, Chris Davis had a hit and drew a walk and Jace Peterson drew a walk.  Joey Rickard had a hit and drew a walk, Davis hit a double and Beckham hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Peterson was caught stealing and Schoop committed an error and Valencia had an outfield assist. 

In the first Gregorius hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Gardner hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Bird hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the eighth Romine hit a two-run homerun to make it 6-0 and Gardner hit an RBI double making it 7-0.  An error pushed the lead to 8-0.  In the bottom of the eighth Becham hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 8-2.  In the ninth Romine hit an RBI double and Judge hit an RBI single making it 10-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Tuesday night. 






New York Yankees drop game one of double header at Baltimore


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Monday evening.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 5-4.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he wasn’t very good.  Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with two hits. 

Sabathia lost his fourth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up seven hits and five runs.  He walked three and struck out four.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and AJ Cole pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out three. 

Jimmy Yacabonis pitched five innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts. Mike Wright Jr. won his second game of the season pitching two innings giving up two hits and a run with four strikeouts, Mychal Givens pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Zach Britton saved his second game of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.

Tim Beckham had a hit, Manny Machado had a hit and Mark Trumbo had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Jonathan Schoop had three hits, Danny Valencia had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk and Joey Rickard had two hits.  Trey Mancini drew a walk, Caleb Joseph had a hit and drew a walk and Joseph, Machado each hit a double and Schoop hit two doubles.  Trumbo and Valencia each hit a homerun and the Orioles were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Rickard had a stolen base. 

In the second Stanton hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Judge hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0 and Gregorius hit an RBI single to make it 3-0.  In the fourth Trumbo hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth Walker hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the sixth Valencia hit a two-run homerun to give the Orioles a 5-4 lead and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees lose as they can't overcome a bad Gray outing


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 6-2.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well, David Hale out of the bullpen was great.  Brett Gardner had two hits to lead the offense. 

Gray lost his seventh game of the season pitching two innings and giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Hale pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Sam Gaviglio pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with one of them being earned and he walked three and struck out six.  Joe Biagini pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out one and he won his first game of the season, Aaron Loup p itched 1/3 of an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Seunghwan Oh pitched 2/3 of an inning and struck out one.  John Axford pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Tyler Clippard pitched a perfect inning.

Curtis Granderson had a hit and an RBI, Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and an RBI and Yangervis Solarte had three hits and drew a walk.  Justin Smoak had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Kevin Pillar had a hit and Randul Grichuk had a hit.  Aledmys Diaz had a hit, Devon Travis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Grichuk, Diaz and Hernandez each hit a double and Smoak hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 6-14 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Pillar had a stolen base and Solarte committed an error.

In the first Travis and Granderson each hit an RBI single to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead.  In the second Smoak hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  In the third Hicks hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Hicks drew an RBI walk to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the eighth Hernandez hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.
