The New York Yankees defeated the
Baltimore Orioles in Game two of a doubleheader on Monday night. The game took place at Camden Yards in
Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 10-2. Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and
pitched very well. Brett Gardner had
four hits to lead the offense.
Cessa won his first game of the
season pitching six innings and giving up three hits and no runs with three
walks and four strikeouts. Giovanny
Gallegos pitched three innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks.
Yefry Ramirez lost his third game
of the season pitching four innings giving up nine hits and four runs. He walked two and struck out four. Ryan Meisinger pitched three perfect innings
with three strikeouts, Brad Brach pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits
and four runs with three being earned and he struck out one and Tanner Scott
pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and a
strikeout. Paul Fry pitched to one
batter and retired him.
Gardner had four hits and three
RBI, Aaron Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had
two hits, an RBI and drew a walk. Giancarlo
Stanton had two hits, Greg Bird had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Miguel
Andujar had a hit. Clint Frazier had a
hit and drew a walk, Austin Romine had two hits and three RBI and Neil Walker
had two hits and drew a walk. Gregorius,
Stanton, Frazier, Walker, Gardner, Andujar and Romine each hit a double. Gardner and Romine each hit a homerun and the
Yankees were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. Gregorius was caught stealing.
Tim Beckham had a hit, two RBI and
drew a walk, Jonathan Schoop had a hit and Manny Machado drew a walk. Mark Trumbo had a hit, Chris Davis had a hit
and drew a walk and Jace Peterson drew a walk.
Joey Rickard had a hit and drew a walk, Davis hit a double and Beckham
hit a homerun. The Orioles were 0-3 with
runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Peterson was caught stealing and Schoop
committed an error and Valencia had an outfield assist.
In the first Gregorius hit an RBI
double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth Gardner hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to
3-0. In the fifth Bird hit an RBI single
to extend the lead to 4-0. In the eighth
Romine hit a two-run homerun to make it 6-0 and Gardner hit an RBI double
making it 7-0. An error pushed the lead
to 8-0. In the bottom of the eighth Becham
hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 8-2.
In the ninth Romine hit an RBI double and Judge hit an RBI single making
it 10-2 and that would be the final score.
The two teams will play game three
of four on Tuesday night.
