The New York Yankees were defeated
by the Baltimore Orioles on Monday evening.
The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final
score was 5-4. CC Sabathia started for
the Yankees and he wasn’t very good.
Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with two hits.
Sabathia lost his fourth game of
the season pitching five innings and giving up seven hits and five runs. He walked three and struck out four. Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a
hit and a walk with a strikeout and AJ Cole pitched two innings giving up two
hits and he struck out three.
Jimmy Yacabonis pitched five
innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts. Mike
Wright Jr. won his second game of the season pitching two innings giving up two
hits and a run with four strikeouts, Mychal Givens pitched a perfect inning
with two strikeouts and Zach Britton saved his second game of the season
pitching an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.
Aaron Hicks had a hit,Aaron Judge
had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI. Stanton had two hits and an RBI, Neil Walker
had a hit and an RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit. Kyle Higashioka had a hit and drew a walk,Tyler
Wade had a hit and Higashioka hit a double and Stanton hit a homerun. The Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring
position and left five men on base.
Tim Beckham had a hit, Manny
Machado had a hit and Mark Trumbo had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk. Jonathan Schoop had three hits, Danny Valencia
had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk and Joey Rickard had two hits. Trey Mancini drew a walk, Caleb Joseph had a
hit and drew a walk and Joseph, Machado each hit a double and Schoop hit two
doubles. Trumbo and Valencia each hit a
homerun and the Orioles were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left
seven men on base. Rickard had a stolen
base.
In the second Stanton hit a solo
homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the third Judge hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0 and Gregorius
hit an RBI single to make it 3-0. In the
fourth Trumbo hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 3-2. In the sixth Walker hit an RBI single to
extend the lead to 4-2. In the bottom of
the sixth Valencia hit a two-run homerun to give the Orioles a 5-4 lead and
that would be the final score.
