The New York Mets defeated the
Washington Nationals by the score of 13-4 on Saturday afternoon. The Mets pitched a lot of guys and the
pitching was pretty good overall. David
Wright had three RBI and Michael Cuddyer, John Mayberry Jr. and Juan Lagares
all had a couple of hits.
Tyler Pill pitched 2 1/3 innings
giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched 2/3 of an
inning striking out one and he picked up the win and Jennry Mejia pitched a
perfect inning. Akeel Morris pitched an
inning walking one and striking out a batter, Scott Rice pitched an inning
giving up a hit and Dillon Gee pitched an inning giving up three hits and two
runs with a couple of strikeouts. Cody
Satterwhite pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Erik
Goeddel pitched an inning giving up two
hits and two runs with a strikeout.
Curtis Granderson drew a walk,
Daniel Muno had a hit and Wright had a hit and three RBI. Alex Castellanos had a hit, Daniel Murphy had
a hit and Dilson Herrera had an RBI and drew a walk. Lucas Duda had a hit, Kevin Plawecki had a hit
and three RBI and Cuddyer had two hits and an RBI. Mayberry Jr. had two hits and two RBI, Brandon
Allen drew a walk, Lagares had two hits and Johnny Monell had a hit. Anthony Recker had a hit, Ruben Tejada had a
hit and two RBI and Matt Reynolds had a hit.
Lagares, Cuddyer, Castellanos, Murphy and Plawecki each hit a double and
Lagares hit a triple. Wright, Cuddyer
and Mayberry each hit a homerun adn the Mets were 7-16 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base.
In the third Tejada hit a sacrifice
fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. Wright
hit a three run homerun and it was 4-0 Mets.
In the sixth Cuddyer hit a solo homerun to extend the Mets lead to
5-0. Tejada hit an RBI single in the
sixth and it was 6-0 Mets. In the
seventh Sandy Leon hit a two run single to make it 6-2 Mets. Mayberry Jr. hit a two run homerun in the
seventh and it was 8-2 Mets. In the
eighth Herrera had an RBI walk to make it 9-2 Mets. Plawecki hit a three run double to push the
lead to 12-2 and Mayberry hit an RBI single to make it 13-2. Ian Stewart hit a two run homerun in the
ninth to make it 13-4 and that was the final score.
