The New York Mets defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday afternoon.
The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final
score was 7-0. Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and
pitched very well, he also led the team with three hits including a
homerun.
Syndergaard pitched 7 1/3 innings
giving up six hits and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts. Syndergaard won his second game of the
season. Sean Gilmartin pitched 2/3 of an
inning giving up a hit and Erick Goeddel pitched an inning giving up a hit and
striking out twice.
Sean O'Sullivan pitched 5 2/3
innings giving up 11 hits and seven runs with a walk and two strikeouts. O'Sullivan lost his fourth game of the
season. Jake Diekman pitched 1 1/3
innings giving up a hit and striking out two and Jonathan Papelbon pitched an
inning giving up a walk.
Curtis Granderson had an RBI and
drew a walk, Lucas Duda had three hits and two RBI and Daniel Murphy had three
hits and an RBI. Michael Cuddyer had two
hits and two RBI, Danny Muno drew a walk and Kevin Plawecki had a hit. Syndergaard had three hits and an RBI, Duda
hit a double and two homeruns. Cuddyer
and Syndergaard also hit a homerun each.
The Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on
base.
Ben Revere had two hits, Blanco had
a hit and Franco had a hit. Grady
Sizemore had two hits, Rupp had a hit and O'Sullivan had a hit. Blanco hit a double and the Phillies were 0-6
with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Diekman committed an error.
In the first Duda hit a solo
homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.
Murphy hit an RBI single and then Cuddyer hit a two run homerun in the
third to make it 4-0. Syndergaard hit a
solo homerun in the fourth to make it 5-0.
Duda hit his second homerun in the fifth to make it a 6-0 game. In the sixth Granderson hit a sac fly and it
was 7-0 which was the final score.
The Mets will have the day off on
Thursday.
