The New York Yankees win second straight over the Kansas City Royals



The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Adam Warren started and pitched very well.  The Yankees bullpen also was good.  Mark Teixeira drove in four runs to lead the offense. 

Warren pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run.  He didn't walk a batter and he struck out five and earned his third win of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and Andrew Miller gave up a hit and he struck out one in his one inning. 

Jason Vargas lost his second game of the season for the Royals.  He pitched four innings giving up two runs, a walk and he struck out six.  Joe Blanton pitched two innings giving up three hits and three runs with two of them being earned and he struck out one, Kelvin Herrera pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Wade Davis pitched an inning with a walk. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Chris Young had a hit and Alex Rodriguez had two hits and drew a walk.  Teixeira had two hits and four RBI, Chase Headley had an RBI and drew a walk and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  John Ryan Murphy had a hit, Teixeira hit a double and a homerun and the Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Headley committed an error. 

Mike Moustakas had two hits, Kendrys Morales had a hit and Paulo Orlando had a hit and an RBI.  Orlando hit a homerun and the Royals were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Infante and Cain each committed an error. 

In the first Teixeira hit a two run homerun and the Yankees had a 2-0 lead.  Teixeira hit a two run double in the fifth and the lead extended to 4-0 Yankees.  Headley hit a sacrifice fly and it was 5-0.  In the sixth Orlando hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1. 

The two teams will play game three of three on Wednesday afternoon.  The Yankees have now won two straight after losing ten of their previous eleven games.
