The New York Yankees defeated the
Chicago White Sox on Thursday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 3-2. Michael Pineda started for the
Yankees and pitched well, the bullpen did their job and Carlos Beltran hit a
three run homerun.
Pineda pitched six innings giving
up one run on eight hits. He walked none
and struck out six and won his 12th game of the season. Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving
up a hit and a run with a walk, Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up
a hit and two walks and he struck out two and Andrew Miller saved his 35th game
of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out two
batters.
Chris Sale lost his 11th game of
the season pitching seven innings and giving up seven hits and three runs. He walked one and struck out eight. Nate Jones pitched to one batter and struck
him out, Zach Duke pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one.
Chase Headley had two hits, Alex
Rodriguez drew a walk and Beltran had two hits and three RBI. Chris Young had a hit, John Ryan Murphy had a
hit and Rob Refsnyder had a hit. Beltran
hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and
left six men on base. Ellsbury had a
stolen base.
ADam Eaton had three hits and drew
a walk, Jose Abreu had a hit and Melky Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk. Trayce Thompson had a hit, two RBI and drew a
walk, Adam LaRoche had a hit and Alexei Ramirez had two hits. Tyler Flowers had two hits, Thompson hit a
homerun and the White Sox were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left
ten men on base. Ramirez was caught
stealing.
In the third Beltran hit a three
run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.
In the sixth Thompson hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1. In the seventh Thompson drew an RBI walk to
make it 3-2 which was the final score.
The Yankees will play game two of four tomorrow night against the White
Sox.
