The New York Yankees keep their hopes alive with win over the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the final score was 6-4 in ten innings.  Luis Severino started and pitched very well, Andrew Miller blew a save but got the win.  Greg Bird hit a big three run homerun and Carlos Beltran also had a big homerun. 

Severino pitched six innings giving up two runs on three hits.  He walked three and struck out three.  Justin Wilson pitched a perfect inning, Dellin Betances gave up a hit and two walks and he struck out two in one inning of work and Miller pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Miller picked up his third win of the season. 

Marco Estrada pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Aaron Loup pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Liam Hendricks pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts and Drew Hutchison pitched giving up a hit and a walk without recording an out.  Ryan Tepera pitched an inning giving up a walk, Mark Lowe lost his third game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them being earned and Steve Delabar pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits and drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk and Alex Rodriguez drew a walk.  Brian McCann had two hits and an RBI, Beltran had two hits and two RBI and Bird had two hits and three RBI.  Dustin Ackley drew a walk, Chris Young drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had three hits.  Ellsbury hit two doubles, Bird and Gregorius each hit a double.  Beltran and Bird each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Beltran had an outfield assist. 

Ben Revere had a hit, Russell Martin drew a walk and Josh Donaldson drew two walks.  Jose Bautista drew two walks, Edward Encarnacion had a hit and an RBI and Justin Smoak had a hit and an RBI.  Dioner Navarro had a hit and an RBI, Kevin Pillar had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Hague drew a walk, Pillar hit a double and a homerun.  Navarro and Encarnacion each hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Pillar had two stolen bases, Navarro committed an error and Bautista had two outfield assists. 

In the first McCann hit an RBI single and Beltran hit a sac fly to make it 2-0 Yankees.  In the third Pillar hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fourth Smoak hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Beltran hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the ninth Navarro hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the tenth Bird hit a three run homerun to give the Yankees a 6-3 lead and in the bottom of the tenth Encarnacion hit a solo homerun to make it 6-4 which would be the final score.  The two teams have split the first two games of three and will play the rubber game on Wednesday night.
