The New York Yankees lose to the Chicago White Sox



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2 Chicago.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  The Yankees offense put runners on base but grounded into four double plays and only had a Didi Gregorius two run single. 

Sabathia pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four runs on six hits.  He walked two and struck out three and took his 10th loss of the season.  Andrew Bailey pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two, Nick Rumbelow pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and gave up a hit.  Chris Martin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk. 

Carlos Rodon won his ninth game of the season pitching six innings giving up five hits and two runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  Matt Albers pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Zach Duke pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he earned his 32nd save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Chase Headley had a hit and Alex Rodriguez drew a walk.  Brian McCann had a hit and drew two walks, Chris Young had a hit and Greg Bird drew a walk.  Rob Refsnyder had a hit and drew a walk, Gregorius had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Refsnyder hit a double and the Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Headley committed an error and Young had an outfield assist. 

Adam Eaton had a hit and an RBI, Jose Abreu drew a walk and Trayce Thompson had a hit.  Melky Cabrera had a hit, Avisail Garcia had a hit and an RBI and Alexei Ramirez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Mike Olt had a hit and an RBI, Tyler Flowers had a hit and drew a walk and Gordon Beckham had two hits and an RBI.  Ramirez hit a double, Olt and Beckham hit a homerun and the White Sox were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Eaton had a stolen base. 

In the second Ramirez hit an RBI double to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the third Garcia hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a two run single to tie the game at two.  In the seventh Olt hit a solo homerun and Beckham hit a solo homerun giving the White Sox a 4-2 lead.  In the ninth Eaton hit an RBI single to make it 5-2 and that was the final score.  The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday afternoon.
