The New York Mets defeated the
Cincinnati Reds on Monday night. The
game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
5-3. Noah Syndergaard started and
pitched pretty well and the bullpen was good.
Michael Conforto had three hits and Lucas Duda and Neil Walker each had
two hits.
Syndergaard pitched 6 2/3 innings
giving up seven hits and three runs with no walks and nine strikeouts. Antonio Bastardo gave up a hit and a walk
without recording an out, Logan Verrett won his second game of the season
pitching to one batter and striking him out and Addison Reed pitched a perfect
inning with a strikeout. Jeurys Familia
pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his sixth save of the
season.
Raisel Iglesias pitched five
innings giving up eight hits and three runs with two walks and seven
strikeouts. JC Ramirez pitched two
innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts and
Caleb Cotham pitched an inning with a strikeout. Ramirez
took his first loss of the season.
Curtis Granderson had a hit,
Conforto had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Duda had two hits and two
RBI. Walker had two hits and two RBI,
Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk, Alejandro De Aza had a hit and Travis d'Arnaud
had a hit. Syndergaard drew a walk, Conforto
hit a double and he also hit a homerun.
Duda and Walker each hit a homerun.
The Mets were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on
base. Syndergaard committed an
error.
Zack Cozart had a hit and two RBI,
Eugenio Suarez had a hit and drew a walk and Joey Votto had a hit and an
RBI. Brandon Phillips had a hit, Ivan De
Jesus Jr. had a hit and Devin Mesoraco had a hit. Tyler Holt had a hit, Billy Hamilton had a
hit and the Reds were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men
on base. Phillips, Suarez and De Jesus
Jr. each had a stolen base. Hamilton had
two stolen bases.
In the first Conforto hit a solo
homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the third Cozart hit a sac fly to tie the game at one. In the third Duda hit a two run homerun to
make it 3-1. In the seventh Cozart hit
an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2.
Votto hit an RBI single to tie the game at three and in the bottom of
the seventh Walker hit a two run homerun to make it 5-3 Mets and that would be
the final score.
The Mets and Reds will play game
two of the series on Tuesday night.
