The New York Mets defeated the
Cincinnati Reds on Thursday night. The
game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
5-2. Matt Harvey started for the Mets
and he pitched well and the bullpen was very good. Neil
Walker had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense.
Harvey won his second game of the
season pitching six innings and giving up seven hits and two runs with a walk
and seven strikeouts. Jim Henderson
pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Hansel Robles pitched a
perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Addison Reed pitched a perfect
inning with a strikeout and earned his first save of the season.
Jon Moscot took his second loss of
the season for the Reds. He pitched five
innings and gave up four hits and three runs with only one of them being
earned. He walked four and struck out
two. Blake Wood pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up two runs and two walks, Drew Hayes pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a
hit and Ross Ohlendorf pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Alejandro De Aza had a hit and drew
two walks, David Wright drew a walk and Michael Conforto had a hit and two
RBI. Walker had two hits, two RBI and
drew a walk, Juan Lagares had a hit and Kevin Plawecki drew a walk. Eric Campbell drew a walk, Conforto hit a
double and Walker hit a homerun. The
Mets were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on
base. De Aza had a stolen base, Duda and
Walker each committed an error.
Zack Cozart had two hits and an
RBI, Ivan De Jesus Jr. had a hit and Joey Votto had two hits. Eugenio Suarez had a hit and an RBI, Scott
Schebler drew a walk and Billy Hamilton had a hit. Cozart hit a homerun and the Reds were 3-9
with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. De Jesus Jr. was caught stealing and
Schebler, Cozart and Mesoraco each committed an error.
In the first Cozart hit a solo
homerun giving the Reds a 1-0 lead. In
the bottom of the first Duda reached on a fielding error and a run scored to
tie the game at one. Walker hit an RBI
single to give the Mets a 2-1 lead. In
the third Walker hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 3-1. In the fifth Suarez hit an RBI single cutting
the lead to 3-2. In the sixth Conforto
hit a two run double and it was 5-2 Mets which would be the final score.
The Mets swept the three game
series from the Reds and have won six games in a row. They will have the day off on Thursday before
welcoming in the San Francisco Giants for a three game weekend series.
