The New York Yankees were defeated
by the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.
The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final
score was 3-2. CC Sabathia started for
the Yankees and pitched pretty well.
Alex Rodriguez led the offense with three hits and Starlin Castro had
two.
Sabathia pitched six innings giving
up five hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts. He lost his second game of the season. Johnny Barbato pitched 1 2/3 innings striking
out one and Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and retired him.
Martin Perez won his first game of
the season pitching six innings and giving up six hits and two runs with two
walks and three strikeouts. Jake Diekman
pitched two innings striking out one and Shawn Tolleson saved his seventh game
of the season pitching one inning and giving up a hit.
Carlos Beltran had a hit, Mark
Teixeira drew a walk and Rodriguez had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk. Brian McCann had a hit, Castro had two hits
and an RBI and Rodriguez hit a double and a homerun. The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring
position and left five men on base.
Nomar Mazara drew a walk, Adrian
Beltre had a hit and an RBI and Ian Desmond had a hit. Ryan Rua had a hit, Roghned Odor had a hit
and drew a walk and Elvis Andrus had a hit and an RBI. Hanser Alberto had an RBI and Bryan Holaday
drew a walk. Andrus hit a triple and the
Rangers were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on
base.
Castro hit an RBI single in the
second to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the second Alberto hit into a double play and the game was tied at
one. In the third Beltre hit an RBI
single to make it 2-1 Rangers. Rodriguez
hit a solo homerun in the fourth to tie the game at two. In the sixth Andrus hit an RBI triple to make
it 3-2 and that would be the final score.
The Rangers won two out of three in
the series and the Yankees will be off on Thursday. They will head to Boston to take on the Red
Sox in a three game weekend series.
