The New York Mets are swept by the Atlanta Braves as they manage one hit



The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field and the final score was 6-0.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched ok and the offense only managed the one hit. 

deGrom pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  He lost his fourth game of the season.  Antonio Bastardo pitched an inning giving up two h its and two runs and Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up four hits and a run with four strikeouts. 

Julio Teheran pitched a complete game one hit shutout for the Braves.  He walked none and struck out seven and earned his third win of the season. 

Michael Conforto had a hit and the Mets left one man on base. 

Ender Inciarte had a hit and an RBI, Freddie Freeman had four  hits and an RBI and Nick Markakis had two hits and two RBI.  Tyler Flowers drew a walk, Jace Peterson had a hit and Chase d'Arnaud had a hit.  Erick Aybar had a hit, Teheran had a hit and Freeman hit two doubles and Aybar hit a double.  Markakis hit a homerun and the Braves were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  In the third Inciarte hit an RBI single to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the third Markakis hit an RBI single to give the Braves a 2-0 lead.  Markakis hit a solo homerun in the sixth and it was 3-0 Braves.  A balk scored a run in the seventh and Freeman hit an RBI double to make it 5-0 still in the seventh inning.  In the eighth a wild pitch scored a run to push the lead to 6-0 and that would be the final score of the game.  The Mets were swept in the three game series and will have the day off on Monday.  They will host the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night in a brief two game series.
