The New York Mets defeated the Houston Astros on Saturday
afternoon. The game took place at The
Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida and the final score
was 3-1. Jacob deGrom started for the
Mets and he pitched well. Brandon Nimmo,
Lucas Duda and T.J. Rivera each led the offense with two hits each.
deGrom pitched two innings giving up no hits or runs and he
struck out three. Conlon pitched two
innings walking two, Taylor earned the win pitching an inning and giving up two
hits. Rowen pitched an inning with a
strikeout, Sean Gilmartin pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and
Bradford pitched a perfect inning.
Sewald pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Nimmo had two hits, Duda had two hits and an RBI and Travis d’Arnaud
had a hit. Rivera had two hits, Gavin
Cecchini had a hit and two RBI and Matt Reynolds drew a walk. Rivera hit two doubles, Duda hit two doubles
and Nimmo and Cecchini each hit a double.
The Mets were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on
base. Rivera was caught stealing.
In the sixth Duda hit an RBI double to give the
Mets a 1-0 lead In the seventh Cecchini
hit a two-run double to stretch the lead to 3-0. In the seventh Carlos Beltran hit a solo
homerun to cut the lead to 3-1 and that would be the final score
