The New York Yankees defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies on Friday afternoon.
The game took place at Spectrum Field in Clearwater, Florida and the
final score was 5-0. Chad Green started
for the Yankees and he pitched well.
Chance Adams and Justus Sheffield also pitched well. Greg Bird had two hits to lead the
offense.
Green pitched two innings giving up
two hits and no runs with three walks and two strikeouts. Green got the win. Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a
hit, Adams pitched an inning giving up a hit and three walks with three
strikeouts and Jon Niese pitched a perfect inning. Sheffield pitched two innings giving up three
hits and two walks with three strikeouts and Matt Marsh pitched two innings giving
up two hits and he struck out two.
Bird had two hits, Matt Holliday
drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit and three RBI. Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI, Rob
Refsnyder drew a walk and Clint Frazier had a hit. Tyler Wade had a hit, Bird and Wade each hit
a double and Headley and Judge each hit a homerun. The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring
position and left three men on base.
Castro committed an error and Kyle Higashioka had a passed ball.
In the first Headley hit a
three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead. In the fifth Sanchez reached on a fielding
error and a run scored to make it 4-0.
In the sixth Judge hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-0 which
would be the final score.
