The New York Mets were defeated by
the Atlanta Braves on Friday afternoon. The
game took place at Champion Stadium in Orlando, Florida and the final score was
5-2. Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and
he pitched ok. Juan Lagares and Dominic
Smith each had two hits to lead the offense.
Wheeler pitched two innings giving
up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout. Marcos Molina pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up
four hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts and he took the
loss, Chasen Bradford pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and P.J.
Conlon pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk. Kevin McGowan pitched an inning with a
strikeout.
Lagares had two hits, Michael
Conforto had a hit and an RBI and John Mora drew a walk. Smith had two hits and an RBI, Colby
Woodmansee drew a walk and Phillip Evans had a hit. Wuilmer Becerra had a hit, Kevin Taylor drew
a walk and Conforto hit a double and the Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base.
Lagares had a stolen base and Mora was caught stealing. Evans and Paez each committed an error.
In the first Conforto hit an RBI
double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.
Smith hit an RBI single still in the first to push the lead to 2-0. In the second Matt Tuiasosopo hit a solo
homerun to cut the lead to 2-1. In the
third Brandon Phillips hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two. In the fifth Matt Kemp reached on a fielder’s
choice and a run scored to give the Braves a 3-2 lead. Adonis Garcia hit a two-run homerun to extend
their lead to 5-2 which was the final game.
