The New York Mets were defeated by
the Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon. The
game took place at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida and the final
score was 4-3. Adam Wilk started for the
Mets and pitched well. Phillip Evans led
the offense with a couple of hits.
Wilk pitched 2 2/3 innings giving
up three hits and a walk with a strikeout, Donovan Hand pitched 1 1/3 perfect
innings and Kyle Regnault pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four this and four
runs with a walk and two strikeouts.
Rafael Montero pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck
out two and Josh Edgin pitched an inning striking out one.
Patrick Biondi had a hit and an
RBI, Luis Guillorme had a hit and Kevin Plawecki had a hit. Travis Taijeron had a hit, Evans had two hits
and L.J. Mazzilli had a hit and two RBI.
Mazzilli and Biondi each hit a double and the Mets were 2-7 with runners
in scoring position and left four men on base.
Regnault had a pickoff.
In the third Mazzilli hit an RBI
double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.
Biondi hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0 in the third. In the fourth Mazzilli hit a sac fly and it
was 3-0 Mets. In the bottom of the fifth
Jose Iglesias hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-1 and in the sixth J.D.
Martinez hit a solo homerun to make it a 3-2 game. Omar Infante hit a two-run double in the
sixth to make it a 4-3 game Detroit and that would be the final score.
