New York Mets lose fourth in a row as they fall to the Philadelphia Phillies


The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-2.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen was good and bad.  Rafael Montero did not pitch well.  The offense only managed four hits. 

Wheeler pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout, Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Fernando Salas pitched an inning giving up an unearned run and a walk.  Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Montero lost his second game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  Sean Gilmartin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Zach Eflin pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Joely Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning, Edubray Ramos pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three and Hector Neris pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts.  Luis Garcia won his first game of the season pitching an inning and walking one and Joaquin Benoit pitched an inning with a walk. 

Michael Conforto drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk.  Jay Bruce had a hit and an RBI, Lucas Duda drew two walks and Jose Reyes had a hit.  Juan Lagares had a hit, Reyes hit a double and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Walker, Reyes and Lagares each committed an error. 

Cesar Hernandez had two hits, Daniel Nava had a hit and two RBI and Odubel Herrera had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Maikel Franco drew a walk, Michael Saunders had two hits and Tommy Joseph had a hit and drew a walk.  Cameron Rupp had an RBI and drew a walk, Freddy Galvis had a hit and Andres Blanco had a hit and an RBI.  Aaron Altherr had a hit and an RBI, Blanco hit a double and Herrera hit a homerun.  The Phillies were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Hernandez had a stolen base. 

In the first Herrera hit a solo homerun to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Burce hit an RBI single and a wild pitch scored another run to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  IN the eighth Blanco hit an RBI double to tie the game at two.  In the tenth Rupp hit a sac fly and Altherr hit an RBI single giving the Phillies a 4-2 lead and Nava hit a two-run single to push the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score.
