The New York Mets were defeated by
the Washington Nationals on Saturday.
The game took place at Citi Field and the final score was 3-1. Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he
pitched ok. His control was off as he
walked a ton of guys and gave up a bunch of hits. The bullpen was good and the offense only
managed two hits.
deGrom pitched 5 2/3 innings giving
up eight hits and three runs. He walked
six and struck out ten and took his first loss of the season. Josh Edgin pitched to one batter and struck
him out, Hansel Robles pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts and
Jerry Blevins pitched a scoreless inning with a walk and two strikeouts.
Gio Gonzalez won his second game of
the season pitching 6 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and a run. He walked three and struck out six. Blake Treinen pitched to two batters and
retired them both, Enny Romero pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings with two
strikeouts and Koda Glover pitched to one batter and retired him and earned his
first save of the season.
Juan Lagares had a hit, Michael
Conforto drew a walk and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an RBI. Jay Bruce drew a walk, Jose Reyes drew a walk
and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on
base. Blevins committed an error and
Granderson had an outfield assist.
Adam Eaton had two hits and drew a
walk, Trea Turner had two hits and an RBI and Bryce Harper drew three
walks. Ryan Zimmerman had a hit, an RBI
and drew a walk, Daniel Murphy had two hits and Anthony Rendon drew two walks. Matt Wieters had a hit and an RBI, Eaton and
Turner each hit a double and the Nationals were 3-8 with runners in scoring
position and left 11 men on base.
In the fourth Wieters hit an RBI
single to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.
In the fifth Turner hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0 and Zimmerman
hit an RBI single to make it a 3-0 game.
In the sixth Cabrera hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1 and that
would be the final score.
