The New York Yankees defeated the
Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday afternoon.
The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the
final score was 5-3. Luis Severino
started for the Yankees and after a rough start really pitched well. Clint Frazier had three hits and four RBI to
lead the offense.
Severino pitched seven innings
giving up six hits and three runs. He
walked two and struck out ten. Dellin
Betances pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Aroldis
Chapman pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and earning his second
win of the season.
Brent Suter pitched 6 1/3 innings
giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts. Jared Hughes pitched to two batters and
retired them both, Jacob Barnes pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Corey Knebel pitched
1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and a
strikeout. Knebel blew his fourth save
of the season and lost his second game of the season.
Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a
walk, Didi Gregorius drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit. Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk,
Frazier was the star of the game with three hits and four RBI and Headley hit a
double and Frazier hit a triple and a walk-off homerun. The Yankees were 3-6 with runners in scoring
position and left four men on base.
Severino committed an error.
Jonathan Villar had two hits, Eric Thames
had a hit and Travis Shaw had a hit.
Domingo Santana had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk. Jesus Aguilar had a hit and drew a walk,
Thames hit a double and Santana hit a homerun and the Brewers were 1-5 with
runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Arcia and Suter each committed an error.
In the first Santana hit a
three-run homerun to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead. In the seventh a throwing error gave the
Yankees a runs and Frazier hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 3-2. In the ninth Frazier hit a walk-off three run
homerun to give the Yankees the 5-3 victory.
The two teams will play the rubber
game of their three game series on Sunday afternoon.
