New York Yankees take rubber game in blowout win over the Seattle Mariners


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched very well and Starlin Castro had four hits and Ronald Torreyes three to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Tanaka won his tenth game of the season.  Caleb Smith pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout. 

Andrew Albers pitched five innings giving up 11 hits and eight runs with three of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out four and lost his first game of the season.  Dan Altavilla pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and four strikeouts. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, Castro had four hits and an RBI and Greg Bird had a hit and two RBI.  Gary Sanchez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew two walks and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Chase Headley had two RBI, Todd Frazier drew a walk and Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits and two RBI.  Torreyes had three hits and an RBI and Castro, Ellsbury and Judge each hit a double.  The Yankees were 6-22 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Hicks and T. Frazier each committed an error. 

Jean Segura had a hit, Yonder Alonso had a hit and Robinson Cano had a hit.  Nelson Cruz had a hit and an RBI, Kyle Seager drew a walk and Mike Zunino had a hit.  Guillermo Heredia had a hit, Cruz hit a double and the Mariners were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Gamel and Seager each committed an error and Segura committed three errors and Heredia had an outfield assist. 

In the first Cruz hit an RBI double to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Sanchez hit an RBI single, Headley reached on a force attempt error and a run scored and Ellsbury hit a three-run double to make it 5-1.  Torreyes hit an RBI single to push the lead to 6-1.  In the third Castro hit an RBI single to make it 7-1.  In the sixth Headley hit a sac fly to make it 8-1 and in the seventh Bird hit a two-run single making it a 10-1 game which was the final. 

The Yankees took two out of three in the series and will now take on the Cleveland Indians for a three game set at home.
