The New York Mets defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.
The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
and the final score was 3-1. Steven Matz
started for the Mets and he pitched well, the bullpen pitched great. Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Conforto each
had two hits to lead the offense.
Matz pitched five innings giving up
five hits and a run with four walks and three strikeouts. Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit
and he struck out one, Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck
out two and AJ Ramos pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and won his
second game of the season. Jeurys
Familia saved his 11th game of the season pitching a perfect inning
with a strikeout.
Jake Arrieta pitched 7 1/3 innings
giving up five hits and no runs. He
walked two and struck out five. Tommy
Hunter pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Hector Neris pitched an
inning giving up three hits and three runs.
Cabrera had two hits and drew a
walk, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and Adrian Gonzalez had a hit. Wilmer Flores had a hit, Conforto had two
hits and two RBI with a walk and Devin Mesoraco had a hit and an RBI. Jose Reyes had a hit, Cabrera hit a double
and Conforto and Mesoraco each hit a homerun.
The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on
base. Reyes was picked off.
Cesar Hernandez had a hit, Aaron
Altherr drew a walk and Odubel Herrera had two hits, an RBI and drew a
walk. Rhys Hoskins drew a walk, Maikel
Franco had a hit and Scott Kingery had two hits. Jorge Alfaro had a hit, Arrieta drew a walk
and Herrera hit a homerun. The Phillies
were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Hernandez had a stolen base and Arrieta had a
pickoff.
In the first Herrera hit a solo
homerun to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.
In the ninth Conforto hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-1 lead
and that was extended to 3-1 on a Mesoraco solo homerun. The final score was 3-1.
