The New
York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday. The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 3-2. Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he
pitched well. Jeff McNeil and Michael
Conforto each had two hits to lead the Mets offense.
Wheeler
pitched seven innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and five
strikeouts. Wheeler won his first game
of the season. Justin Wilson pitched an
inning with a strikeout.
Jake
Arrieta started for the Phillies and he pitched eight innings giving up six
hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts. Arrieta won his third game of the
season. Adam Morgan pitched to one
batter and got him out and Hector Neris pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a
hit and he struck out two to earn his second save of the season.
McNeil
had two hits, Pete Alonso had a hit and Conforto had two hits and an RBI. J.D.
Davis had a hit, Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Travis d’Arnaud drew a
walk. Dom Smith drew a walk, Conforto
hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left
six men on base. Conforto had a stolen
base.
Scott
Kingery had a hit and an RBI, Bryce Harper drew a walk and Rhys Hoskins drew
walk. J.T. Realmuto had two hits, Odubel
Herrera had a hit and Cesar Hernandez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. Maikel Franco had an RBI, Hernandez and
Kingery each hit a homerun and the Phillies were 1-3 with runners in scoring position
and left five men on base.
In the
second Franco hit a sac fly to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead. In the fifth Kingery hit a solo homerun to
push the Phillies lead to 2-0. In the
sixth Hernandez hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-0. In the seventh Conforto hit a solo homerun
cutting the lead to 3-1. In the ninth
Rosario hit an RBI single making it a 3-2 game but that would be the final
score.
