The New York
Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Saturday. The game took place at Citi Field in
Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.
Noah Syndergaard started for the Met and he pitched well. The Mets offense only managed five hits.
Syndergaard
pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and five
strikeouts. Seth Lugo won his fifth game
of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and a run with three
strikeouts.
Patrick
Corbin pitched six innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and
eight strikeouts. Hunter Strickland
pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Fernando Rodney pitched giving up
two hits and two runs with one being earned and he lost his fifth game of the
season. Daniel Hudson pitched an inning
giving up a walk.
Jeff McNeil
had a hit, Pete Alonso drew a walk and J.D. Davis had a hit and two RBI. Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI, Michael
Conforto had a hit and Luis Guillorme had a hit and an RBI. Syndergaard drew a walk and Davis, Ramos and
Guillorme each hit a homerun. The
Nationals were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on
base.
In the first
Soto hit a two-run homerun to give the Nationals a 2-0 lead. In the fourth Davis hit a solo homerun and
Ramos hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two. In the eighth Soto hit a solo homerun to give
the Nationals a 3-2 lead. In the bottom
of the eighth Guillorme hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three. Davis hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 4-3
lead and that would be the final score.
The Mets will be looking for the three-game
sweep on Sunday.
