The New York Mets were defeated by
the Atlanta Braves in game two of a doubleheader on Monday night. The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing,
New York and the final score was 1-0.
Jerad Eickhoff started for the Mets and he pitched well. The Mets offense only managed five hits and
it was by only three players.
Eickhoff pitched four innings
giving up three hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Miguel Castro lost his second game of the
season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run. Sean Reid-Foley pitched an inning with a
strikeout and Trevor May pitched an inning with two strikeouts.
Ian Anderson pitched 5 1/3 innings
giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and five strikeouts. Anderson won his fifth game of the
season. A.J. Minter pitched 2/3 of an
inning and Will Smith pitched an inning giving up two hits and he saved his 14th
game of the season.
Jonathan Villar had a hit and drew
a walk, Pete Alonso had two hits and Dom Smith had two hits. Villar hit a double and the Mets were 0-3
with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Lindor was caught stealing and picked
off.
Ronald Acuna Jr. had two hits and
an RBI, Ozzie Albies drew a walk and Abraham Almonte had a hit and drew a
walk. Dansby Swanson had a hit, Guillermo
Heredia drew a walk and Acuna Jr. hit a double and a homerun. The Braves were 0-3 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base. Acuna
Jr. had an outfield assist and Minter had a pickoff.
In the fifth Acuna Jr. hit a solo
homerun giving the Braves a 1-0 lead and that would be the final score of the game.
