The New York Yankees defeated the
Boston Red Sox by the score of 5-3 on Friday night. The game took place at Jet Blue Park in Fort
Myers, Florida. Adam Warren made the
start for the Yankees and pitched ok.
Jacob Lindgren struck out the side to close out the game. Mason Williams and Jonathan Galvez led the
Yankees offense.
Warren pitched three innings giving
up four hits and two runs. He didn't
walk a batter and he struck out two.
Chasen Shreve pitched two innings walking one and striking out one, Jose
Ramirez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Branden Pinder pitched an
inning giving up a hit and a run. Nick
Goody pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts and Lindgren got a
save pitching an inning and giving up a hit.
He walked one and struck out three.
Aaron Judge had a hit, Williams had
a hit and two RBI and Garrett Jones had a hit and drew a walk. Brian McCann had a hit, John Ryan Murphy had
a hit and Rob Refsnyder had a hit. Slade
Heathcott drew a walk, Galvez had two hits and three RBI and Cito Culver drew a
walk. Murphy, Williams and Judge each
hit a double and Galvez hit a triple.
The Yankees were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men
on base. Tyler Wade was caught stealing
and Culver committed an error.
In the first Hanley Ramirez hit an
RBI groundout to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.
David Ortiz hit an RBI single in the third to push the Red Sox lead to
2-0. In the fourth Galvez hit a three
run triple to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.
In the seventh Williams hit a two run double and it was 5-2
Yankees. In the bottom of the seventh
Jeff Bianchi hit an RBI groundout to make it a 5-3 game and that was the final
score.
The Yankees will take on the
Detroit Tigers on Saturday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa,
Florida. Michael Pineda will make his
second start of the spring.
