The New York Mets defeated the
Washington Nationals on Friday night.
The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final
score was 4-0. Matt Harvey started and
pitched very well and Juan Lagares and Daniel Murphy led the team with a couple
of hits each.
Harvey pitched seven innings giving
up five hits and no runs. He walked one
and struck out three. Harvey won his
fifth game of the season, Alex Torres pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit
and Jeurys Familia pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out two and saving his tenth
game of the season.
Max Scherzer pitched seven innings
giving up five hits and a run with a walk and ten strikeouts. Scherzer lost his third game of the
season. Matt Thornton pitched 1/3 of an
inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and Blake Treinen
pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a
strikeout.
Curtis Granderson had a hit and
drew a walk, Lagares had two hits and Lucas Duda had a hit. Micahel Cuddyer had a hit, an RBI and drew a
walk. Murphy had two hits and three RBI,
Kevin Plawecki had a hit and Granderson and Murphy each hit a double and
Cuddyer hit a homerun. The Mets were 2-5
with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Flores committed an error.
Michael Taylor had two hits, Bryce
Harper drew a walk and Bryce Harper drew a walk. Ryan Zimmerman had a hit, Wilson Ramos had two hits and Dan Uggla had a
hit. Taylor and Zimmerman each hit a
double adn the Nationals were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left
five men on base. Harper was caught
stealing and Harper had an Outfield assist.
In the fourth Cuddyer hit a solo
homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the eighth Murphy hit a three run double to make it 4-0 and that was the final
score.
The two teams will play on Saturday
afternoon.
