The New York Yankees defeated the
Boston Red Sox on Saturday afternoon.
The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the
final score was 4-2. Nathan Eovaldi
pitched really well and the bullpen closed the door. Brett Gardner led the offense with a couple
of hits and three RBI.
Eovaldi pitched 6 2/3 innings
giving up seven hits and two runs with one walk and two strikeouts. Eovaldi won his second game of the
season. Chris Maritn pitched 1/3 of an
inning giving up a hit, Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk
and striking out one and Dellin Betances recorded his first save of the
season. Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings
and struck out all four batters that he faced.
Wade Miley lost his third game of
the season pitching seven innings and giving up seven hits and three runs. He struck out three, Tommy Layne pitched to
two batters and retired them both and Alexi Ogando pitched 1 1/3 innings giving
up two hits and a run with a strikeout.
Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Gardner
had two hits and three RBI and Alex Rodriguez had a hit. Chris Young had two hits and an RBI, Chase
Headley had a hit and Gregorio Peti t had a hit. Didi Gregorius had a hit, Young, Gardner and
Headley each hit a double. Young hit a
homerun adn the Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left four
men on base. Ellsbury had a stolen
base.
Mookie Betts had a hit and and RBI,
Dustin Pedroia had a hit and an RBI and David Ortiz had two hits. Hanley Ramirez had a hit and drew a walk,
Pablo Sandoval had two hits and Blake Swihart had a hit and drew a walk. Betts hit a double and Pedroia hit a
homerun. The Red Sox were 0-3 with
runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. H. Ramirez had an outfield assist.
In the third Gardner hit an RBI
double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth Pedroia hit a solo homerun to tie ghe game at one. In the fifth Gardner hit a two run single to
make it 3-1 Yankees. The Red Sox cut the
lead to one in the sevneth on a Betts RBI double. In the ninth the Yankees added an insurance
run with a Young solo homerun to make it 4-2.
The Yankees will be looking for the
series sweep on Sunday night.
