The New York Mets were defeated by
the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday afternoon.
The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final
score was 2-1. Zach Wheeler started for
the Mets and he gave up a lot of hits but was able to limit the damage. Lucas Duda had two of the teams four
hits.
Wheeler pitched 6 1/3 innings
giving up ten hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts. Wheeler lost his third game of the
season. Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an
inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Fernando Salas pitched
two innings giving up a walk and he struck out five.
Chase Anderson pitched seven
innings giving up three hits and no runs.
He walked one and struck out seven and won his fourth game of the
season. Jacob Barnes pitched an inning giving
up a hit and a run and Corey Knebel pitched an inning with a walk and two
strikeouts and saved his fourth game of the season.
Neil Walker drew a walk, Duda had
two hits and Curtis Granderson drew a walk.
Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI, Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and Flores
hit a homerun. The Mets were 1-2 with
runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Duda committed an error.
Eric Sogard had two hits, Hernan
Perez had three hits and an RBI and Travis Shaw drew a walk. Domingo Santana had two hits. Jonathan Villar had a hit and drew a
walk. Nick Franklin had two hits, an RBI
and drew a walk, Anderson had a hit and Perez hit a double. The Brewers were 3-12 with runners in scoring
position and left nine men on base.
Franklin had an outfield assist.
In the third Perez hit an RBI
double to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth Franklin had an RBI single to make it 2-0. In the eighth Flores hit a solo homerun to
cut the lead to 2-1 and that would be the final score.
The Mets will kick off a three game
set with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night at Citi Field.
