New York Mets lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers again


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 6-3.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Curtis Granderson had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up three hits and three runs with five walks and eight strikeouts.  Paul Sewald pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and lost his second game of the season, Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning with three walks and Fernando Salas pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched five innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Chris Hatcher pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Grant Dayton pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he had a strikeout and Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and won his first game of the season.  Luis Avilan pitched to one batter and walked him and Kenley Jansen pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings. 

Granderson had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and Jay Bruce drew a walk.  Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and an RBI, Lucas Duda had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Jose Reyes had a hit.  Gavin Cecchini had a hit, Brandon Nimmo drew a walk and Granderson and Duda each hit a double.  Granderson and d’Arnaud each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Flores committed an error. 

Logan Forsythe had a hit and drew a walk, Chris Taylor drew a walk and Justin Turner had a hit and an RBI.  Cody Bellinger had a hit and drew a walk, Enrique Hernandez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Baez had an RBI and drew a walk.  Austin Barnes had an RBI and drew three walks, Yasiel Puig drew a walk and Joc Pederson had two hits and an RBI.  Bellinger hit a double and Turner, Hernandez and Pederson each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Barnes had two stolen bases and Bellinger had a stolen base.  Pederson was caught stealing and Bellinger committed an error.  Hernandez had an outfield assist. 

In the first Granderson hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Turner hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Hernandez hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth d’Arnaud hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth Duda hit an RBI double to tie the game at three.  In the seventh Pederson hit a solo homerun to give the Dodgers back the lead at 4-3.  Baez drew an RBI walk and it was 5-3.  Barnes drew an RBI walk to make it 6-3 and that was the final score of the game.
