The New York Yankees defeated the
Chicago White Sox on Monday night. The
game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final
score was 6-5. Jordan Montgomery started
for the Yankees and he pitched well, the Yankee bullpen almost blew the
lead. Chase Headley had three hits to
lead the offense.
Montgomery pitched seven innings
giving up five hits and a run. He walked
one and struck out eight and won his sixth game of the season. Jonathan Holder pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up a hit and he walked one with a strikeout, Dellin Betances pitched 1/3
of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Chasen Shreve pitched
1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs. Aroldis Chapman pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up two hits and a run and he saved his eighth game of the season.
David Holmberg pitched 5 1/3
innings giving up five hits and six runs with only two of them being
earned. He walked four and struck out
two and lost his second game of the season.
Juan Minaya pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one
and Michael Ynoa pitched two innings giving up a hit and he walked two with two
strikeouts.
Brett Gardner drew a walk, Aaron
Judge drew three walks and Gary Sanchez drew a walk. Tyler Austin had a hit and two RBI, Jacoby
Ellsbury had a hit and Headley had three hits and an RBI. Austin Romine had an RBI and drew two walks,
Ronald Torreyes had a hit and an RBI and Headley hit a double. Austin hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-8
with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Montgomery committed an error.
In the second Frazier hit a solo
homerun to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth Austin hit a sac fly to tie the game at one, Headley hit
an RBI single and Torreyes hit a sac fly to make it Juan Minaya pitched 1 2/3
innings giving up a walk and he struck out one and Michael Ynoa pitched two
innings giving up a hit and he walked two with two strikeouts.

extend the lead to 4-1. Romine hit a sac
fly and Torreyes reached on an error to push the lead to 6-1. In the ninth Anderson hit a three-run homerun
to cut the lead to 6-4 and Abreu hit an RBI double to make it 6-5 which was the
final score.
The two teams will play game two of
four on Tuesday night.
