New York Yankees lose on walk-off to Chicago White Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 4-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched great, the bullpen was bad and blew the game.  Aaron Judge and Didi Gregorius each had two hits to lead the offense and Gary Sanchez had two RBI. 

Severino pitched seven innings giving up six hits and a run with no walks and 12 strikeouts.  Domingo German pitched to two batters walking both and giving up a run, Tyler Clippard pitched an inning with two walks and two strikeouts and Dellin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and he blew his second save of the season and lost his second game of the season. 

Jose Quintana pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs.  He walked four and struck out six.  Anthony Swarzak pitched to two batters and retired them both, Tom Kahnle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and Dan Jennings won his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Sanchez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Gregorius had two hits, Tyler Austin drew a walk and Ronald Torreyes drew a walk.  Austin Romine had a hit, Tyler Wade drew a walk and Judge and Sanchez each hit a double.  The Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Severino had a pickoff. 

Yolmer Sanchez had two hits and drew a walk, Melky Cabrera drew a walk and Jose Abreu had two hits and three RBI.  Todd Frazier had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Kevan Smith had two hits and drew a walk and Alen Hanson drew two walks.  Sanchez and Abreu each hit a double and the White Sox were 2-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Frazier was caught stealing and Smith committed an error and had a passed ball. 

In the third Abreu hit an RBI double to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Judge hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Sanchez hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Frazier drew an RBI walk to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the bottom of the ninth Abreu hit a two-run walk-off single to give the White Sox a 4-3 victory. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Wednesday night.
