The New York Yankees defeated the
Texas Rangers on Friday night. The game
took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1
in ten innings. Masahiro Tanaka started
for the Yankees and he pitched great.
The Yankees bullpen did their job and Brett Gardner and Gary Sanchez
each had two hits to lead the offense.
Tanaka pitched eight innings giving
up three hits and no runs. He walked two
and struck out nine. Aroldis Chapman
pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with two strikeouts, Chad
Green pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked a batter and Chasen Shreve pitched
2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and won his second game
of the season.
Yu Darvish pitched seven innings
giving up two hits and no runs with no walks and ten strikeouts. Tanner Scheppers pitched a perfect inning
with a couple of strikeouts and Bush pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits
and two runs with two strikeouts and he blew his fourth save of the season and
lost his third game of the season.
Gardner had two hits and an RBI,
Aaron Judge had a hit and Sanchez had two hits.
Didi Gregorius had a hit, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and an RBI and
Gardner hit a homerun. The Yankees were
1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Gardner had a stolen base and Gregorius
committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball.
Shin-Soo Choo drew a walk, Elvis
Andrus had two hits and Jonathan Lucroy had two hits. Mike Napoli drew three walks and the Rangers
were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Andrus had a stolen base and was caught
stealing.
In the ninth a passed ball allowed
the Rangers to score a run and take a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth Gardner hit a solo homerun to tie the game at
one and in the tenth Torreyes hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 2-1
walk-off win.
