The New York Yankees win their second in a row over the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Clint Frazier had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched eight innings giving up two hits and a run with no walks and 14 strikeouts.  Tanaka won his eighth game of the season.  David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Austin Pruitt pitched five innings giving up four hits and five runs with two walks and seven strikeouts and lost his second game of the season.  Chase Whitley pitched two innings with two strikeouts and Adam Kolarek pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, C. Frazier had a hit and three RBI and Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI.  Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew a walk, Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI, Todd Frazier drew a walk and Gardner, Judge and C. Frazier each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-2 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. 

Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI, Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit and Duda hit a homerun.  The Rays left one man on base and Ramos had a passed ball.  Dickerson had an outfield assist. 

In the first Gardner hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Judge hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth C. Frazier hit a three-run homerun and the lead was extended to 5-0.  In the seventh Duda hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1 and in the eighth Gregorius hit an RBI single to make it 6-1 and that would be the final score. 
The Yankees have taken the first two of the series and will play game three on Saturday afternoon
