New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles for third straight win


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-3.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  Didi Gregorius and Jacoby Ellsbury each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts, Ben Heller pitched an inning with two walks and Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with four walks and a strikeout.  Giovanny Gallegos pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Jeremy Hellickson pitched three innings giving up four hits and six runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  He lost his tenth game of the season.  Chris Tillman pitched three innings giving up four hits and a run with a strikeout, Donnie Hart pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and Richard Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Judge drew two walks.  Gregorius had three hits and three RBI, Ellsbury had three hits and an RBI and Todd Frazier had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Greg Bird had a hit and three RBI, Ellsbury hit a double and Gregorius, Bird and T. Frazier each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base and Gregorius committed an error. 

Tim Beckham drew two walks, Chance Sisco drew two walks and Jonathan Schoop had a hit and drew a walk.  Ryan Flaherty drew a walk, Trey Mancini had a hit and J.J. Hardy had two hits and drew a walk.  Austin Hays had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Hays hit a homerun and the Orioles were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Rickard had a stolen base. 

In the third Gregorius hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the fourth Bird hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 6-0.  In the fifth Ellsbury hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-0.  In the seventh T. Frazier hit a two-run homerun to make it a 9-0 lead.  In the ninth Hays hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 9-2 and a balk scored a run making it 9-3 which would be the final score. 

The Yankees will try and sweep the four game series on Sunday afternoon.
