New York Yankees beat up on the Minnesota Twins


The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 14-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched very well.  Giancarlo Stanton had four hits and Tyler Austin and Miguel Andujar had two hits each to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts and he picked up his third win of the season.  Chad Green pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked one and David Hale pitched two innings giving up three hits and he struck out three. 

Jake Odorizzi pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Odorizzi lost his second game of the season.  Trevor Hildenberger pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Alan Busenitz pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Tyler Kinley pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and five runs with two walks.  Ryan LaMarre pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew two walks and Didi Gregorius had a hit and four RBI.  Stanton had four hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Austin had two hits and four RBI, Andujar had two hits and an RBI and Gleyber Torres picked up his first major league hit.  Sanchez, Andujar, Judge and Austin each hit a double.  Andujar, Stanton, Gregorius and Austin each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base. 

Brian Dozier had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Eddie Rosario had a hit and Logan Morrison had a hit.  Max Kepler had a hit, Ryan LaMarre drew a walk and Jason Castro had a hit and drew a walk.  Mitch Garver had a hit, Kepler and Garver each hit a double and the Twins were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first Sanchez hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Hicks hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the second Andujar hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the fifth Dozier hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-1.  IN the fifth Stanton hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 5-1 and in the seventh he hit an RBI single to make it a 6-1 lead.  Austin hit a two-run double and it was 8-1 Yankees.  In the eighth Gregorius hit a grand slam to up the score to 12-1 and Austin hit a two-run homerun to make it 14-1 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.
