The New York Yankees defeated the
Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 7-4. Sonny Gray started for the
Yankees and was a little better but still struggled. The bullpen pitched well and Didi Gregorius
led the offense with three hits.
Gray pitched 4 2/3 innings giving
up six hits and three runs with five walks and four strikeouts. Chad Green picked up his second win of the
season pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and
two strikeouts, Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and
David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. Aroldis Chapman saved his fourth game of the
season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one.
Lance Lynn pitched 3 2/3 innings
giving up seven hits and six runs with three walks and three strikeouts and
took his second loss of the season.
Trevor Hildenberger pitched to one batter and retired him, Ryan Pressly
pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two and Zach Duke pitched an
inning giving up a hit and a walk and he struck out two. Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a
hit and he struck out one and Taylor Rogers pitched an inning giving up a hit
and a run with three walks.
Brett Gardner had a hit, Aaron
Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Gregorius had three hits, two
RBI and drew two walks. Giancarlo Stanton
had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew two walks and Tyler Austin had two hits
and three RBI. Miguel Andujar had a hit,
Austin Romine drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had two hits. Torres, Andujar and Austin each hit a
double. Gregorius and Austin each hit a homerun
and the Yankees were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on
base.
Brian Dozier drew a walk, Joe Mauer
had two hits and drew a walk and Miguel Sano had two hits, two RBI and drew two
walks. Max Kepler had three hits and an
RBI, Eduardo Escobar had two hits and drew a walk and Logan Morrison had a
hit. Robbie Grossman had an RBI and drew
a walk, Mauer hit a double and Sano hit a homerun. The Twins were 3-12 with runners in scoring
position and left 11 men on base. Dozier
was caught stealing.
In the first Sano hit a two-run
homerun to give the Twins a 2-0 lead. In
the bottom of the first Gregorius hit an RBI single to cut the lead to
2-1. In the third Gregorius hit a solo
homerun to tie the game at two. Austin
hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 5-2 lead. In the fourth Grossman grounded into a force
out and a run scored to cut the lead to 5-3.
In the fourth Judge hit a sac fly to make it a 6-3 game. In the seventh Kepler hit an RBI single to
cut the lead to 6-4. In the eighth
Stanton hit a sac fly to push the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final
score.
The Yankees have taken the first
three games of the series and will look for the four game sweep on Thursday
afternoon.
