The New York Mets were defeated by
the Atlanta Braves on Thursday. The game
took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
11-0. Jason Vargas started for the Mets
and he didn’t pitch well. Matt Harvey
was terrible out of the bullpen. The
Mets offense managed three hits.
Vargas pitched 4 2/3 innings giving
up 11 hits and six runs. He walked two
and struck out three and took his second loss of the season. Harvey pitched two innings giving up three
hits and five runs with three walks and a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched 1
1/3 innings with a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pithed an inning giving up a
hit.
Julio Teheran pitched seven innings
giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts. He won his second game of the season. Jesse Biddle pitched an inning striking out
one and Max Fried pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with three
strikeouts.
Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes
drew a walk and Juan Lagares had a hit.
Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Adrian
Gonzalez had a hit. Cabrera hit a double
and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on
base. Vargas had a pickoff.
Ozzie Albies had two hits and three
RBI, Ronald Acuna Jr. had three hits and an RBI and Freddie Freeman drew a
walk. Nick Markakis had three hits,
three RBI and drew a walk, Kurt Suzuki had two hits and two RBI and Johan
Camargo drew a walk. Charlie Culberson
had two hits and an RBI, Teheran had two hits and an RBI and Preston Tucker had
a hit. Ender Inciarte drew two walks,
Markakis and Tucker each hit a double and Suzuki, Acuna Jr., Markakis and
Albies each hit a homerun. The Braves
were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Acuna Jr. was caught stealing.
In the first Markakis hit an RBI double,
Suzuki hit a two-run homerun and it was 3-0 Braves. In the fifth Acuna hit a solo homerun to
extend the lead to 4-0. Markakis hit a
two-run homerun and it was 6-0. In the
seventh Culberson hit an RBI single, Teheran hit a sac fly and Albies hit a
three-run homerun to push the lead to 11-0 and that would be the final
score.
