New York Mets lose to the Colorado Rockies for sixth straight loss


The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched well but was a little wild.  The offense only managed five hits. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Jerry Blevins pitched to two batters and retired them both, one was a strikeout, AJ Ramos pitched to one batter and struck him out and Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and lost his first game of the season. 

Kyle Freeland pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Freeland won his second game of the season.  Bryan Shaw pitched 2/3 of an inning with two strikeouts, Jake McGee pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up a walk and Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. 

Juan Lagares had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and Brandon Nimmo drew a walk.  Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an RBI, Todd Frazier had an RBI and Wilmer Flores drew two walks.  Jose Lobaton had a hit, Adrian Gonzalez had a hit and the Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Syndergaard committed an error and Lagares had an outfield assist. 

Charlie Blackmon had a hit, David Dahl had two hits and Nolan Arenado drew two walks.  Gerardo Parra had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Ian Desmond had two hits and two RBI, Daniel Castro had a hit and Tony Wolters drew two walks.  Dahl and Parra each hit a double and Desmond hit two homeruns.  The Rockies were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Dahl and Wolters each had a stolen base. 

In the first Cabrera hit an RBI signle, Frazier hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the second Desmond hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Parra drew an RBI walk to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Desmond hit a solo homerun to give the Rockies a 3-2 win and that would be the final score.
