The New York Yankees defeated the
Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 3-2. Luis Severino started for the
Yankees and he pitched well. Giancarlo
Stanton led the offense with two homeruns.
Severino pitched six innings giving
up six hits and two runs with 11 strikeouts.
David Robertson won his third game of the season pitching an inning and
giving up a hit and he struck out two, Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a
hit and Aroldis Chapman saved his eighth game of the season pitching an inning
and striking out a batter.
Drew Pomeranz pitched six innings
giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and six strikeouts. Heath Hembree lost his first game of the
season pitching 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Joe
Kelly pitched 1 1/3 innings givin gup a hit and a walk with a strikeout and
Carson Smith pitched to one batter and struck him out.
Brett Gardner drew a walk, Aaron
Judge had a hit and an RBI and Stanton had two hits, two RBI and drew a
walk. Gary Sanchez drew a walk, Aaron
Hicks drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had a hit.
Neil Walker had a hit, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Walker
hit a double and Stanton hit two homeruns.
The Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men
on base. Stanton had a stolen base,
Torres committed an error and Judge had an outfield assist.
Mookie Betts had two hits and an
RBI, Andrew Benintendi had a hit and an RBI and Hanley Ramirez had a hit. J.D. Martinez had a hit, Eduardo Nunez had
two hits and Christin Vazquez had a hit.
Nunez and Martinez each hit a double and Betts hit a triple. The Red Sox were 2-7 with runners in scoring
position and left seven men on base.
Nunez had a stolen base and Devers committed an error, Benintendi had an
outfield assist.
In the second Stanton hit a solo
homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth Stanton hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0. In the fifth Benintendi hit an RBI single to
cut the lead to 2-1. In the seventh
Betts hit an RBI triple to tie the game at two and in the bottom of the seventh
Judge hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead and that would be the
final score.
The two teams will play game two of
three on Wednesday night. The Yankees
have won seven in a row and 16 of 17 to move into a first place tie with the Red
Sox.
