New York Mets blow the game and lose to the Miami Marlins in the ninth


The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched great, Jeurys Familia blew the game.  Brandon Nimmo and Adrian Gonzalez each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Familia pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and he blew his fourth save of the season.  Familia took his second loss of the season as well. 

Dan Straily pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and five strikeouts.  Nick Wittgren pitched a perfect inning, Adam Conley won his first game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one and Brad Ziegler saved his ninth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Nimmo had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Jay Bruce had a hit.  Gonzalez had two hits and drew a walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and Nimmo hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Rosario was caught stealing and Cabrera committed an error and Conforto had an outfield assist. 

Derek Dietrich had a hit, J.T. Realmuto had two hits and an RBI and Justin Bour had a hit and drew a walk.  Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI, Brian Anderson had two hits and Miguel Rojas drew two walks.  Lewis Brinson had a hit, Martin Prado had a hit and Dietrich hit a double.  The Marlins were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base. 

In the fifth Nimmo hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Realmuto hit an RBI single and Castro hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-1 lead and that was the final score.  

The Mets lost two out of three in the series and will now head to Milwaukee.
