New York Yankees lose in Texas to even the series


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 6-4.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The bullpen pitched well and kept them in the game.  Gleyber Torres led the offense with two hits. 

German lost his second game of the season pitching 3 2/3 innings giving up four hits and six runs.  He walked three and struck out six.  A.J. Cle pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three walks and he struck out three, Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and he struck out two and Giovanny Gallegos pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Cole Hamels won his third game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Jake Diekman pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout and Keone Kela pitched a perfect inning to earn his ninth save of the season. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Gary Sanchez drew two walks.  Austin Romine had a hit and two RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI.  Torres had two hits and an RBI, Torres, Andujar and Romine each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Cole had a pickoff. 

Shin-Soo Choo drew two walks, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had two hits and drew two walks and Nomar Mazara had an RBI and drew two walks.  Jurickson Profar had a hit and three RBI, Roughned Odor had a hit and drew a walk and Ronald Guzman had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Profar and Guzman each hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Odor was caught stealing. 

In the first Profar hit a three-run homerun giving the Rangers a 3-0 lead.  In the second a wild pitch made it 4-0.  Mazara hit an RBI ground out and it was 5-0 Rangers.  In the third Torres hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-1.  In the fourth Guzman hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 6-1.  In the seventh Andujar hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the eighth Romine hit a two-run homerun and it was 6-4 but that would be the final score. 

The two teams have split the first two games of the series and will play the third and deciding game on Wednesday night.
