New York Mets lose a high scoring game in Milwaukee


The New York Mets were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.  The game took place at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 8-7.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Asdrubal Cabrera, Jay Bruce and Jose Bautista each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk, Jerry Blevins pitched giving up a hit and a run and he took his first loss of the season and Paul Sewald pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts. 

Jhoulys Chacin pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and five runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Boone Logan won his first game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Jeremy Jeffress pitched a perfect inning and Corey Knebel saved his fourth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Cabrera had two hits and two RBI, Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk and Bruce had two hits and an RBI.  Bautista had two hits, Tomas Nido had a hit and an RBI and Devin Mesoraco had a hit and an RBI.  Wheeler had a hit and two RBI, Amed Rosario drew a walk and Conforto hit a double.  Cabrera and Mesoraco each hit a homerun and the Mets were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base and Flores and Rosario each committed an error. 

Lorenzo Cain had two hits and drew a walk, Christian Yelich had three hits and Jesus Aguilar had two hits, four RBI and drew a walk.  Travis Shaw had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Domingo Santana had a hit and two RBI and Jonathan Villar had a hit and an RBI.   Ryan Braun had a hit, Santana and Villar each hit a double and Aguilar hit a homerun.  The Brewers were 5-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Aguilar hit an RBI single to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead.  In the second Nido hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Wheeler hit a two-run single to push the Mets lead to 3-1.  Cabrera hit an RBI single and it was 4-1 Mets.  In the bottom of the third Aguilar hit a three-run homerun to tie the game at four.  In the fifth Bruce hit an RBI single to give the Mets back the lead at 5-4.  In the seventh Cabrera hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 6-4.  In the bottom of the seventh Shaw hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-5.  Santana hit a two-run double to give the Brewers a 7-6 lead and Villar hit an RBI double to push the lead to 8-6.  In the ninth Mesoraco hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 8-7 and that would be the final score.
