The New York Mets defeated the
Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. The game
took place at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was
4-1. Jason Vargas started for the Mets
and he pitched very well, the bullpen did their job by holding the lead. Brandon Nimmo, Adrian Gonzalez and Amed
Rosario each had two hits to lead the offense.
Vargas won his second game of the
season pitching five innings and giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and
he struck out two. Tim Peterson pitched
two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Jeurys Familia pitched an
inning giving up two hits and Robert Gsellman saved his second game of the
season pitching a perfect inning.
Julio Teheran pitched seven innings
giving up five hits and two runs with three walks and three strikeouts. Teheran lost his third game of the
season. Shane Carle pitched 1/3 of an
inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Sam Freeman pitched 2/3 of an
inning giving up a hit and Miguel Socolovich pitched an inning giving up two
hits and a run and he struck out one.
Nimmo had two hits, two RBI and
drew a walk, Jose Bautista had a hit and drew a walk and Jay Bruce had a hit
and drew a walk. Kevin Plawecki drew a
walk, Gonzalez had two hits and two RBI and Luis Guillorme drew a walk. Vargas had a hit, Rosario had two hits and
Bruce, Gonzalez, Bautista, Rosario and Nimmo each hit a double and Rosario hit
a triple. The Mets were 4-12 with
runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Nimmo was caught stealing and picked off and
Rosario committed an error.
Ozzie Albies had a hit, Freddie
Freeman had two hits and Johan Camargo had a hit and an RBI. Charlie Culberson had a hit, Dansby Swanson
drew two walks and Culberson hit a double and Carmargo hit a homerun. The Braves were 0-2 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base.
In the fourth Gonzalez hit an RBI
double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the seventh Nimmo hit an RBI single to push the Mets lead to 2-0. In the seventh Camargo hit a solo homerun to
cut the lead to 2-1. In the eighth Gonzalez
hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1 and in the ninth Nimmo hit an RBI
double to make it a 4-1 game and that was the final score.
The two teams split the four-game
series. The Mets will head home to take
on the Chicago Cubs.
